| Lots of lakes in that area and several of them have pike. Of course, your chance at a big one is probably best in the big lake, and there are always fish in the harbor. There may still be some splake in the harbor if you're there in early May, but there are several inland trout lakes around CH. Manganese and Fanny Hoe are basically right in town, so you would have an easy spot to get your kayak in and should be able to get out without a problem unless the wind is really blowing. Finding bait is not always easy, so you probably want to pick that up before you get to town.
Copper Harbor is, in my opinion, the prettiest place in Michigan. Make sure you hit Brockway Mountain and check out the golf course just a few miles south of town. The last 6 or 7 miles heading north into CH has to be one of the most scenic stretches of road anywhere in the country. |

| Fished Copper Harbor a few times while I was up getting my degree from Michigan Tech. PM me and I can give you some information I learned about the harbor when I was up there. Definitely pick your bait up before you get up there and any other fishing gear you might think you need even Houghton's and Hancock's selection for bait or gear isn't great and you will be paying for it. |
