What is the best way to remove clearcoat from a bait? I had several jerkbaits repainted a while back and have never been satisfied with them. The clear coat kinda ruined the action and the paint wasn't too hot either. Start sanding it off, or is there another way?

I have already removed the clearcoat on some lures by heating them with a heat gun

Does heating it ruin the finish. Like if I wanted to remove a few high spot.

From what I have found the heat gun takes everything off . Clear coat, paint, and primer in most cases

Heat gun. Yeah, I'll try that. The lures are all wooden ones Mullhead. Thanks for the replies guys.

Heat gun is the way to go on wood baits.
