How'd you do over the weekend?

Are your lakes turning over yet?

We had post low/cold front conditions and then a day of heavy rain/wind....[:knockout:]

Had several fish up on glide baits. Had one taker on the return trip...nice 38"er.

All suckers were safely released back in the cooler to fight again another day...[]

Have been casting till my arms are ready to fall off with no luck. Crankbaits , spinnerbaits , jerkbait, bucktails, all = 0 fish. A fishing buddy of mine did troll up a nice 40" tiger , weighed in at 16 lbs. 2 oz. and turned loose in good shape, big enough for a trophy citation here in the Mountain State, though not a monster by most standards, not a bad fish in these parts. Hit a fire tiger Super Shad Rap in about 15-20' of water.

Mark,

Not much luck in Minnesota either. I fished Lake Waconia, caught a 35", and it was the only fish I saw all day. The lake is usually very cloudy, so I am not sure if it has turned over yet or not? I have resecheduled my trip with Darrin for this sunday the 13th. Let me know what waters are still looking good for this weekend. Has Holcombe or Wissota turned over already? Is the chippewa river a better bet? Dells pond? I will talk to Darrin again soon, but let me know your ideas

Thanks

Tony Steffes[:p]

Did the Chain Sat & Sunday. Saturday I had several sucker sniffers but none would take a bite. Three were over 40 which was encouraging and frustrating. Sunday my trolling motor could barely hold position in the wind. Never saw a single fish. Temps were 61-63F

Tough day Sat. Managed a 36" on a sucker while my buddy missed one on the set.The lake is in a valley and with all the rain , the water looked like pea soup. The incoming creeks didn't help either.I am now 8 for 9 on lift off rigs going back to last fall.7 in a row!!! Steve

10 hours casting in yesterday's 41 degrees and wind gusts to 25. But worth it as I finally broke my dry spell (since July!) with four fish in the boat. Nothing big, got a 33, 33, 34 and 36 all on a suick with a terrific "death wobble on the rise". Water temps were 57-58.

Started Sat on Indy by myself. Lost one on a jackpot (yes it was hooked and not a blowup). Decided Indy was a sewer and got sick of the boats so I went to tonka. Boated 1, missed a hookup and saw 2 more. Saw one quality fish (mid-upper 40's) otherwise low-to-mid 30" fish.

Saw a post about our waters this weekend on another tread's postings...water was actually just fine here in IN.
now have at least 5 to 7 or 8 feet vis here(hell, maybe 9 or 10). (you can see your lure on a full cast on subsurface lures)
Damamge...lost a new Hughes River(8" shaker)...OUCH!! only second day of owning it. Caught 2 fish on it the first two days out and had action from 6 other fish on it...lost it either due to me not snapping leader or it coming becoming unsnapped (i hate to say it, but probably i fogot to snap it...)
Had some new guys out in the boat, snapped a Thorne Bros custom jerkbait rod, into 3 pieces...that's an expensive weekend. I caught my smallest this year, 17" i'd say.[:p]
We had 10 fish up on a full day saturday, and 3 up on half day sunday. Had salmon guy on the boat sunday and the sucker too off about 100 MPH but after he grabbed the rod and did whatever salmon fisherman do w/ musky rods, the musky was gone.[:(]
so, plenty of damage to my equipment, but not enough to the to paint jobs on my lures.
had 2 fish over 40" up on a new lure. STC Glider.
keep it reel,
tomcat

Ranger, GOOD JOB!!! way to break it man!! sweet!!!!!!!

We tried a new lake and boated 4 trolling with two rips and my dad had one take a bucktail and missed on a figure eight and I had one try to eat a homemade jerkbait on it's first two casts.

Had terrible weather on the Ottawa River. Fished Oct. 4th--7th. On Monday, the waves were so bad, there was a guy surfing the swells...no kidding.
Boated 10 fish in 4 days. Nothing huge, but this had to be the worst fishing weather I've ever seen. 25--50 mph winds from the East. Front after Front rolling through.

But hey, 10 fish isn't bad. Rich Collins put us on some fish when I thought there was little chance to get any. If you ever want to fish the Ottawa, Rich knows his stuff, has the best top-of-the-line equipment, and makes a mean smoked meat sandwich.
