Location: Uxbridge Ontario | I have a 2011 Lund Predator 2010. Last time out, I have virtually no battery left to crank over my main engine (2011 Merc 225ProXS). Not sure why I had issues with this on such a new rig.
I have 2 graphs on my boat (both 5" screens and neither has gps), 2 power poles and the standard, bilge, int lighting and nav lights running off the main panel.
What would have caused the drain?
My next questing. In order to charge the cranking battery, do I need to pull it from the boat or disconnect all the components/ engine and charge the battery alone? |

Location: northern indiana | Sounds to me like you may need a new battery? Your graphs will drink a little juice during the off time, but not enough to have to recharge unless it's a few weeks during each usage. I've never had to recharge only in the spring when she is on her maiden voyage for the season. |

Location: Iowa Great Lakes | I don't do alot of running on my home waters and with graphs, gps and radio on all day I have ran mine down over time. I keep mine on a charger for piece of mind... just plug it in and forget it between trips...

Location: Hugo, MN | Make sure you don't have a draw when everything is assumed off. Your GPS antenna will draw if it's powered, regardless of whether the unit is on or not. Make sure your master power switch disconnects all accessories. You never know how it was wired when they rigged the boat. Sometimes things get powered off a constant hot, instead of a switched hot. It only takes one accessory left powered to drain a battery over a week or two. |

| one thing you may want to do is put a master switch in place if you don't already have one. This switch is used to cut off ALL power to all the devices attached. I always turn mine off when i don't use the boat for a few weeks. You never know, sometimes your electronics will use some battery power while they sit there unused. Even a new battery will wear down faster if its constantly drained. i would suggest a master switch regardless. |

| +1 on the master switch. My new boat has one and now I don't know how I got by without. Had a boat where the stereo kept drawing down the battery when it was in storage...drove me nuts. |

Location: Uxbridge Ontario | Turns out that my bow mount finder is attached to a constant power source that doesn't run thought the main power switch. Not sure why it would have been rigged like that though. There is like an accessory harness in the cubby on bow that powers the bow mount motor, the nav light and also where my the feed is for my Bow mount finder. Both the trolling motor and the finder feeds bypass the main switch, yet the nav light runs through the main (Can power up both the finder & TM with main power switch off).
Why would it be rigged like that?
I need to check my Lund manual for a wiring schem.
