What are peoples take on the rubber band lift-off rig for suckers versus Shumway's clip 'n go rig? My only concern would be losing suckers in the weeds with the clip 'n go rig.

No you won't lose suckers with the clip in go from getting tangled in the weeds. It is a good rig just don't lift the sucker out of the water with the rod, be sure to pick it up every time. That said its just like any other rig hit/miss or hit/catch.

I like them both and have not found one better than the other. The berst ones are ones I have made with myself with Single Strand... The thing that I do not like about the Shumway is how small the hooks are. I bought the bigger size and immediatlly re rigged it with bigger hooks...

Location: Iowa | I made my own version of the shumway rig, having used bucher rigs, the lift off rig and the herbie rig, I think the shumway concept (designed by steve herbeck) is the best way to consistantly hook muskies on a sucker and the easiest to rig. I too upsized my homemade shumway rig to 3/0 short shank and used tiger wire as the leads from the clip to the hooks. I use the long leader that you get with the lift off rig from the clip to my main line which is 60 lb big game mono. If I run it under a bobber I use tiger wire up to the slip float.

The Clip and Go from Shumway was designed by a guy that fishes the Hayward area. Pat something. It's far better than a rubber band. It may be a little better in terms of hooking, but it's much, much easier in terms of rigging.

I used to use the Herbie rig and just tried the Clip-n-go. The clip n go is way easier and faster to rig. No problems with pulling a sucker tangled in the weeds
