Posts: 791 Location: North Central IL USA | Is this lake very shallow now? I've heard they're having problems with it filling full of sediment and that 6 ft is the max depth and it needs to be dredged? Looking at the map, max depth is 30 feet. That would be a lot of suit to fill that up!!!

Location: Hayward WI | I don't know who you've talked to, but no the lake isns't filled in, still basically a big bowl that max's around 30'. There was some talk to working on the Yahara River above Kegonsa to increase the flow volume of water when the lake levels are high, but nothing in the works that I know of. There are muskies present, but no one that I know of goes there on a reqular basis to target them, just not enough around.

Posts: 791 Location: North Central IL USA | Thanks for the report. They guy that told me this know's someone that has a house on the lake. I'm thinking of targeting Pike. It *is* a good pike lake, no?

Posts: 416 Location: Madtown, WI | I'm pretty sure the guy must have been talking about Koshkonong near Edgerton. 10,000 acre lake with max depth of 5 or 6' and no weeds. They've been stocking the max of 2,000 muskies in there for quite a while. Doesn't sound like a lot of fish but the lake doesn't have the volume as others, obviously. I would be very curious if anybody has heard of any muskies being caught.

Location: Hayward WI | Kosh sounds right for the 6' max depth. Kegonsa's got pike, I haven't fished for them specifically, but people get decent ones from time to time. If your looking for pike, head 15 miles north to Mendota. It's got a 40" size limit.

Posts: 280 Location: McFarland | Lots of pike, I think my best day out there was 15 trolling in about 3-4 hours. An occasional musky, I got this one eye out there casting for pike a few years ago. Attachments ---------------- IMG_0250a.JPG (58KB - 145 downloads)

were you trolling Koshkonong or Kegonsa? I did realize you could troll on either lake or has that changed?
