Posts: 39 | Hey guys I have a question. I bought 2 batterys a few years ago and noticed one of the batterys will not hold a charge. I bought 2 from gander mountain. What would be the best (not that expensive) battery to get? I remember I bought these and they were like$550 for 2 want to pay way less. Thanks

Posts: 1184 Location: Iowa Great Lakes | Interstates have always treated me well, keep them on a good onboard charger and recharge after every trip. I use my boat alot and is always plugged in when not on the water....Get the biggest series you can fit in your storage area, should run around $125 a battery.... Location: Eastern Ontario | I have had good luck with Walmart batteries and like most store brands they come from a major manufacturer. ( I believe United Technoligies.)

Posts: 576 Location: nappanee IN | just got one in september from Walmart, the biggest they had. i believe it's a 29 series, right around 81 with a core charge. the guy on www.bassboatcentral.com told me they are good batteries. it was under the trolling motor forum.. hope this helps..p.s.s the reason i only got 1 is because my maxxum is a 55lb and the biggest 12 volt you can get.

Posts: 322 | Walmart maxx batteries are what I run. I am currently running 2 on a 24 volt setup. Here in the next week or two I am going to step it up to 4 batteries running in 24 volt. That way I have plenty of trolling juice for this fall.

Location: Contrarian Island | i prefer no maintenance agm type batteries....Farm and Fleet has AGM batteries at a decent price...the specs are better than optimas and cost less.. reserve capacity on durations: 200 Optimas: 155 .I bought them for our cabin boat on sale and I think a 31 series size was 180 or so...check them out http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/661624-agm_blue_marine_battery... Posts: 582 | I have interstates and walmart batteries. I can't see any difference as long as i charge them after usage. Both are fine batteries. I believe walmart is made by Johnson Controls thou.. but nothing bad to say about walmart batteries. they do a fine job for the price.

Location: Contrarian Island | I got to test the duration AGM's I recommended above pretty good this weekend in my cabin boat...I only have the 27 size...24 volt 65 lb autopilot...I was VERY impressed..we fished in some MAJOR wind and after 9 or so hours on the water they were still registering 75%....money well spent ....good batteries are worth every penny imo.
