| I've been running 16 1/2ft bass boat with a 90hp which runs about 40mph. I've had this boat for about 5-6 years and it works fine for most of my applications, but I am looking to get more size to fish more comfortably. Prior to this I've had all aluminum boats which worked fine but I like how the fiberglass hulls hold water position and ride so that is what I want to stick with. Here's some of the parameters that I’m looking to fit.
1. Low water draft at rest and on plane
2. Skinny water take off and set down
3. Top end should be at least 55mph.
4. Ability to stay on plane at slower speeds like 35-45. More of a safety concern cruising in narrow/shallow water ways.
5. Steers well at slow speeds in shallow water like pushing up to a dam.
6. 19ft-21ft. I think ideal is actually 19'6" to 20'6"
I will probably add a jack plate if there is not one installed, assuming I can confirm this is okay by the manufacture.
I'm looking for models that will fit this outline from the years 1994-2002 for pricing reasons. I know over the years hulls/models change so if you have had a particular year/model that
would work please feel post them. I’m just looking for years and models to help narrow what boats I should be considering. I like the mid 90's Stratos 201 models, but they are somewhat hard to find in my area, so I'm looking to expand my search to other boats.

| I run a 1996 Champion 191 DCX-Elite with a 150 Merc that does/has all of what you want...although I don't know what you mean by slow speeds in #5 and the top end is only 55 mph? I've contemplated selling it to go to a 620/621 so I can fish Lake Superior, too, but can't justify it quite yet because I musky fish 98% of the time and the boat I have now is a great fishing platform 98% of the days I musky fish...and the girlfriend wants a ring...that's the real reason!  |

you just got the answer for what you want if looking for a bass-style boat that vintage in the first response. it all goes downhill from here with the possible exception of a bass-cat.
sorry ranger boys ... they were pumpin' numbers in the early 90's and got smoked on performance and quality by the two mentioned above. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Bass Cat and Champion for that vintage. the Cats are sweet. Skeeter put out some nice rigs in 2001 and 2002, worth a look. If it was me, I'd look for a Cat. |

| tell us more about basscats...seriously considering a basscat eyra versus a 619...both great looking rigs ...I'm selling a ranger fish and ski and hope to be fishing out one of these two soon

Location: Van Buren, Indiana | Bass Cats are an awesome choice! They have superior fit and finish. I subcribed to Bass and Walleye Boats magazine till they went out in '09. There were lots of articles on Cats. If you go bwbmag.com and do a search for bass cat boats they have one of their articles on 200 hp motors (Six Hundred Horse Stampede!) and the Pantera was their test boat. They give an honest opinion on what each motor will do. Mike Iaconellie and Marty Stone both run Bass Cats on the Bass Elite Series. I know you are looking for glass but I would also say take a peek at loweboats .com and check out the Stinger 195 Multi Species 2 big livewells 9'6" rod storage, large front deck. I just sold my 180 Stinger in May, they came out with this model 2 or 3 years ago, I was sick after I started buying 9' rods. This boat or an Xpress H22 Bass will be my boat when I get back in one, take a look at these two especially for the skinny water applications, but they can also take some pretty big water too!

Location: Tinley Park. Fish Cen IL. Bass & Vilas Cty.Muskie | I have rode in all the major bassboats in the late 90's. I have a R series Ranger- R80, 81, AND R82 Plus R90'S(19FT) All Super boats. Great value and ez resellers. I was impressed with basscats but limited used selection up north and the others in south midwest(Missouri, Kentucky/Tenn.) have been on Big water all their life - Take a pounding on weekends in high trafiic lakes and have lots/lots of high speed miles. Stick with a good used Ranger. |

| Stratos makes a good bassboat too at a lower price. I had one before my Reata and i have to say it was a dry ride and handled some rough conditions on some lakes. |
