Posts: 74 Location: Brainerd, MN 56401 | Here is how I passed the time during the long cold winter. This boat started it's life as a stock 1969 Starcraft Jupiter V, closed bow run-about. This past winter I brought it into the shop and did a complete makeover. I opened up the bow, moved the windshield back a foot, added a 180 flipover rear couch/casting deck. Got rid of the back to back seats in favor of some removeable swivel buckets. Added a front casting deck/bow seating area. The walk through fits my Lakewood Monster exactly. Under the gunwales are storage for 4 rods, up to 9'6" long. When the rear seat is flipped over the casting deck measures 40" x 60". I also placed a deck over the large splashwell for another raised 21" x 60" deck. There is plenty of storage under each deck and drivers and passengers seat bases. The front bow cushions are snap in style, easily removeable for conversion into casting deck. With everything, including a new paint job, I have about 220 hours and 1700 dollars into this makeover, and I couldn't be happier with the results. It still needs a few finishing touches and a trolling motor, but I love everthing I can do with it now. The first few pictures are how the boat looked before (green). The rest are how it looks now (blue and gray). Posts: 202 Location: Angola, IN | I got the same #*^@ boat, but mine is called a V-180. 2 feet longer and glass. And I'm rocking the original 1969 Johnson 115HP on the rear. I'll post some pics when I can.

Posts: 99 | you're make over looks great!! looks like it is laid out for both fishing and fun!! I have been toying with the idea of putting a bench seat across the back that would flip down for a casting deck. thanks for the idea, looks like it should work great. also like the idea of the deck all the way to the back. now I have my winter project!!!

Very very nice work. I added a platform to the back of my 1990 Starcraft as well, however it doesn't look near as good as yours. However its still very functional and we refer to it as the bone fishin platform. It's also nice for long naps too....

Posts: 791 Location: North Central IL USA | Awesome! Only thing I’d do different is not have the port side seat box/base. I'd have that a pedestal seat with a deck base. That way there’d be more cockpit room when you didn’t need the seat..

Posts: 74 Location: Brainerd, MN 56401 | Thanks to all for the kind words. This was a labor of love, otherwise I would have quit halfway through the bow reconstruction. The long hours paid off in the finished project. I did the seat bases for a extra casting platform for a third person. Edited by jranderson 8/19/2011 7:22 AM

Hello - Do you still have your back to back green seats? I have a 69 Jupiter which I'm looking to bring back to original condition and am looking for some seats. My email is [email protected] if indeed you do still have them and would be willing to part with them. Thanks! Kurt
