This is a little embarassing, but with the hotter and more humid summer
than the past years I am running into a problem while fishing in it. I am
wondering if anyone has a recommendation for some good nylon pants that
allow for a little more ventilation in the crotch area - you know like a nut
vent or something. Any recomendations? I Need pants because of insane bugs! I have shirts with armpit vents just looking for something similar in pants.

its pricy but not that bad,,,its hard to beat columbia..they make some very lightweight UV pants that are very comfortable,,,,I dont know if they still have the tarpon wear line but that was great stuff.

you might google 'saltwater tackle' retailers and find some stuff designed for the hot gulf waters

Other thing to try are the moisture wicking underwear. Cabelas sells them and they helped with the heat a lot this summer. Haven't found effective bug pants. I try to just deal with bugs the best I can with spray and shorts.

x2 Columbia PFG - these syle pants have zip off legs allowing you to wear shorts if the bugs become manageable.

i too prefer to use lightweight pants to keep the flies off rather than bug spray. i really like the North Face ones, especially with zip off legs for when i do want to wear them as shorts. they're pretty expensive though, so even the Gander Mtn store brand ones will give you pretty good ventilation at a more reasonable price.

switching to boxers will also help a ton, allowing for some airflow up your legs that briefs or boxer briefs cut off. pair that with a light application of spray powder and you'll stay much more comfortable even on those hot/humid days.

Swass and Swalls is not laughing matter. I to have had the problem of a swamp in my pants. its not fun for me or anyone else. Gander mountian makes a pair of zip of leg pants that are light weight and uv. Cabellas does as well.

I aslo highly recommend using other products to help with this problem.
1) Baby powder, powder up your twig and berry and your cracks or anywhere else you have a wet problem. This works great and is cheap. you can never use to much!

2) There is a new product advertised on howard stern and some other shows called Fresh balls. its like a deoderant antipersperent for your crouch. I have not tried it as I use the baby powder idea but it is supposed to work well. I think the website is freshballs.com

Swass and Swalls can ruin your day! deal with it for a happier day on the water!

X2 on the North Face pants. They look thicker and are tough but they seem to keep cool fishing or backpacking. and X2 on the synthetic boxers and foot powder as well.

I'd wear the shirt without sponsorship.

I bought a pair of the Columbia pants with zip off legs last year and they work great. The bottom of the pants have a strap you can adjust if you want to keep the bugs from crawling up.

This thread is comedy gold. I just bought the NF brand zip off pants ($65 at Gander Mtn) for a hiking trip out west. They're very lightweight. I'd stay away from anything cotton as it absorbs moisture and pretty much makes you miserable. T-shirts are okay, but I still like a poly blend better.

So today I played 18 holes of golf in 89 degree temperature with a lot of humidity and a lot of sun. It was hot. there were 4 of us. all wearing shorts a polo and a hat. 2 of us had light weight Cabelas shorts and 2 had regular cargo shorts. I had on baby powder as well.

The 2 with regular cargo shorts complained about swamp issues. The other guy that was wearing the cabelas shorts did not complain but also had sweating issues. While I was hot I did not have any swamp issues. Even more impressive is that I am 5 10 260. Everyone else was height weight proportionate.

Im telling you, powder your balls and wear some good shorts and your day will get better. I have also had heat gear shirts and other hot weather type shirts while fishing and they help too. This has helped me and can help you.

Powder a day keeps the swamp azz away.

I have a pair of Mountain Khakis nylon pants that are well constructed and are very cool. Give them a try.

HIya,

I purchased my zip off nylon pants at Bass Pro Shops...cheap, but comfortable. I think I paid something like $20 or $30 for each pair...love them!! Cool, quick drying, and the zip off legs are a great thing. Bugs come out in the evening, and you are all set.

Plus....I believe they carry a UV rating as well, which is a very nice benefit since you don't need to apply sunscreen.

I know the columbia stuff is great too. I have a few of their shirts and love them as well...
