im thinking about trying one of these reels and wondered if any of you have ever used one? are they worth the money? ive used curado's for ever but was just thinking of trying something new to throw my light tackle. there is a type r edition that they want almost 400 bucks for.

It's that much just because of the prestige factor. As a practical everyday reel it's not worth the price tag. If you're looking for a great light lure reel take a look at the Lew's Tournament Pro Speed Spool for about 175 bucks. Light as a feather and smooth as butter. Like the Alphas though it's definitely not a muskie reel.
