Fair enough, Captain. But I think most of there stuff is/was aimed at the less initiated in the sport. Seemed to me as if they were trying to be more descriptive in distiquishing it from a bucktail. But maybe they were just trying to be cute about it as you suggest. I guess I for one don't so much care what terms are used for our fish or our lures as long as I can tell what is being talked about.

You guys nailed most of 'em.

I heard one this weekend while fishing the ER Chain with my best friend. "Is that a pirate ship over there?"
--Yes it is.

The solution to going no. 2 is a Wal-Mart bag over the baitwell. Sit on it and hold both handles of the bag. Then tie it off and hide it somewhere deep in the boat.

Ran into this five miles out in Lake Michigan with a friend and his sons. My son, then probably 6, said he had to go and couldn't hold it. So that was the solution.

I wonder if there was a similar group of anglers who were annoyed when someone started calling a muskellunge a muskie?

Why even bother saying the other letters? I think I might just start calling them "Mmm" and see if it catches on. I actually prefer to communicate in grunts so this might work well for me.

What NOT to do is pass litter when you have an opportunity to pick it up, starting at the landing if you're waiting for access. Grab every floating beer can and even $hit you see on the bottom in shallow water - if you can reach it with anything (net) then get it out of the lake.

This may grant you the favor of the Lady of the Lake. But maybe not. Ignore trash and pay the price of the DISfavor of the spirits.

PS - She hates muskies? Take away her credit card, start storing your gear at a buddy's place and otherwise prepare for a divorce.

Picked up a floating beer can this June, next cast a 47". I now go out of my way looking for floating trash. haha

Hate when theres a guy and he throws a temper tantrom in the boat after losing a fish. F-bombs, smashing his bait against the water so the hole lake can hear. Just shut it and pout in the back of the boat. I know losing fish sucks but thats the way it go's somtimes just suck it up and keep casting.

beavergrad - 7/26/2011 4:48 PM Not to do: Tell someone that fishes 1-2 times per year from a dock, paddle boat, or from a pontoon how muskie fishing has been. They don't understand it, they think you are a loser when you say "Today went good, had 2 follows."

"Well it's about time...telling me you had follows isn't much!) Just always say you caught some fish because you can't argue with stupid. Not to Say: "Can we troll" "Should I bring some cheese/crackers and some beer on our trip?" (Fish On) "How does the net handle work again?"

I come home and the Wife or neighbor asks if we had any success

I am smiling and say "Oh yeh, we had 2 rips" they all know what a rip is and then they ask why am I happy about that because it isnt the same as boating a fish

I usually just say "yhe, you're right" and walk off

Last summer had a decent muskie in the net. Ask my cousin to hand me the pliers. What does he say? "Ya sorry dude I dropped those in the water when I caught that last pike"
