| I fished a metro lake this weekend and caught a 43" muskie, fat too, on my fifth cast of the morning. We did not even see another muskie for the rest of the day. I was fishing Lake Waconia, does anyone know the water temp there? Has the bite picked up anywhere in the metro area, or is it still a little early? Let me know what you have seen recently. I thought that it was going to be a great weekend, but I was quite surprised with the lack of fish we saw. Share your thoughts and ideas! I am anxious to here them![:0] |

| I like sharing information with people, but it seems like whenever I do, no one bothers to reply. It just seems pointless to have a message board with thousands of posts and no replies[:((] |

| Did you read the Tonka report?
There are also reports under the Twin Cities Metro lakes Report.
Yes, the bite has picked up! Big fish or are in shallow right now.
Temps on Tonka mid to upper 60's as of yesterday. I imagine around the same on Waconia.
What was working on Waconia? Any hot spots there? Never fished the lake> Where is the laucnh area> I am thinking of headed out there real soon!

| Tahoe is right. There are other threads already started and it helps to keep with them ratherthan starting your own. When nobody responds it's usually either because they've got nothing to say, or because they're onto something good and don't want the whole world to know. Right now I'd say it's more of the latter - things are picking up. Maybe just due to the full moon weekend, but water temps are moving into the 60's too. I got 2 40's over the weekend - both on TopRaiders, but one was shallow and the other was deep so patterning has still been a bit tough on the east metro lakes I fish.

| Tahoe-
I don't really have a hot spot on Waconia for you. I caught that nice 43 incher the other morning off of cemetery reef, but there has been really no pattern of anything going on out there. I read another post who said that he is getting no follows, either the fish blows up on your lure or leaves it alone. I had 0 follows and I fished the lake for at least 6-7 hours on sunday. I caught my 43" at about 7:30 a.m. I am going out again tommorrow evening. Hopefully I get something. I will let you know. I was using a bobbie bait.[:p] |

| Where are launch areas @ Waconia?
I'd be heading west on 5 from EP.
Thanks |

|
| Can't say for minnesota but the bite picked up in early august when we had a cooling trend. Been up ever since. |

| When you are going west on 5, you will take a right at the Waconia Lakeside Ballroom. If you get into the town of Waconia, you have gone too far. You will then come to a T and the lake will be right in front of you. You will take a right there and follow this road around the lake until you see a sign for the public access. It will be on your left. Good Luck, let me know how you do. I am trying it out tonight I think.

| Tahoe,
I fished Robinson Bay tonight and had two follows on a topraider. Both came out of shallow weeds. We landed a number of pike and a nice smallmouth.
Hope you have a good day out at Waconia. We normally fish it several times each year. If it is fairly calm and the light is at the right angle the reef edges are easy to follow.

| I fished Waconia again last night, the water was really green! Fished it for about 2 hours before a storm forced us off the lake. NOTHING! Not even a follow. Good luck to the rest of you.[:((] |

|
| MuskyTom,
Robinson Bay is hot! Stick with it..I may see you out there soon!
What did you catch the smallmouth on? I have never pulled out a small mouth on Tonka. |
|
| |
|
| caught the smallie on a white spinnerbait at the point. I felt a nip, slowed the retreive and the fished nailed it.

|
| Any size to the smallie?
Are there big one's in Tonka? Do you know wher htye like to hang out? My buddy loves to fish for them, so I thought I'd take him out. Smallies for 2 hrs and Muskies the rest of the day!! |
|
| |
|
| Smallies are tough to find out there, but there are some nice one's out there. |
|
| |
|
| It was 16" and it is swimming out there. The only other smallie I have seen, my wife had on for a few seconds. It came off some rocks by Big Island and it was a hawg. We have her address and will visit her next spring.

| Asteffes, did you get out over the weekend? We were out on Saturday and had some good action. Sure wish I could have gotten out on Sunday as well, the weather looked good.
Note: Talked to you guys at the ramp on Tuesday, we were the guys with the Javelin bass boat. |

| MNSlick,
I did get out on Saturday! I fished the morning from about 7:45 - 10:00, I caught a small 28" and then my fishing partner wanted to try tonka, so we went there and saw NOTHING! I wanted to try some more. I caught a 35" on friday and had a 40+ crush my giant jackpot about 6" from the boat, I prematurely set the hook when I saw the beast and missed it. Did you get anything on Saturday? When are you going out again? Let me know your plans
|
|
| |
|
| Asteffes, things picked up on Saturday around 11:00. My buddy boated a 26" around 9:30 but he had to leave a 10:00 so I was solo for the rest of the day. I caught a 36" at 11:30 and missed 3 others. Had them hooked for 1-2 seconds before they shook loose. Bummer!!!! Email at [email protected] if you care to compare notes. I'll be out tomorrow and again on Friday. Waconia or Tonka depending on the wind. |
