Very productive. I would recomend Capt. Larry Jones or Mike Speary for guides.

No muskies in Chautauqua. September is horrible. lol. Cpt Larry is the only guide I personally would spend my $ on.

My father went on a two day trip last week with Todd Young from Muddy Creek Fishing Guides (http://www.mcfishnguides.com). A two day trip is $625 total for 1-3 people including one night hotel stay at the Jamestown Comfort Inn and he'll keep you out on the water as long as you want. This was our first trip up there and I can tell you...this guy put us on fish! On the first day, the temp was cloudy and 60 degrees with 15-20 mph winds and we put a total of 4 fish in the boat (3 trolling). Surface water temp was about 72 degrees. For the first two hours, we started out casting weed lines off of points and landed a 38" along with 4 follows. We trolled the next 5 hours south of the I-86 bridge and landed a 37" and 40" on wileys and my dad landed his first musky...a monster 48" on a 5" baker bait! Once the trolling bite turned off, we casted along more weed lines and had 2 more follows. The second day was mostly sunny with a few clouds and 74 degrees with 10 mph winds. Water temp was the same. We started casting north of the bridge near Whitney Bay and had about a 44" follow in the eight but didn't take. We trolled for about four hours on both the north side and south side of the bridge in 15' - 25' feet of water to no avail. Baitfish were not as pronounced as the day before. We then casted the last two hours and had two more follows. All in all we saw 12 fish in two days. The most important thing was my dad (in the blue coat in pics below) and I had an awesome trip and he was able to land his first. We only took pics of the 48" and the 40". All fish were carefully and successfully released.

Brian, from what was told, October is a great trolling month. Make sure you get some jointed Wiley lures (Headshakers, Muskie Killer), Baker Baits, and a Legend Perchbait. Walleye, Perch, Black with white belly, and Green/Black colors work well there. Good Luck. You can also contact a fisheries biologist there to get more info. There numbers are: (716) 851-7000 or (716) 372-0645. Good Luck!
