Trying to plan a trip to Cave Run. Just wanting to know if anyone has fished it or knows a good time of the year to go. I think we are wanting to go Late August, early September. Any informtion will help.

Water over 80 degrees on Cave Run these days.
Guides have given up until after Labor Day.
You have a chance fishing early and late, but fish mortality can be high when the water is over 80.
The water begins to cool off the middle to end of September (when the evenings get cooler). Temps should be around 85 to 87 degrees the end of August.

Go north young man ... go north.

Far enough north whereby the water is still under 80 degrees.

Maybe Webster in Indiana, Kincaid in IL, Wisconsin Muskie lakes, Minnesota, etc.

Try to get more info. from the guys who are on this board and fishing those lakes.

The end of August is the hottest time of the season when it comes to water temps.

Only problem is, we aren't trying to drive 16 hours to go to Wisconsin or Minnesota. We are from Cleveland Ohio, gas is a hefty fine over here....

I suggest checking out Lake Pymatuning or Allegheny Reservoir. Both are in western PA and are decent Muskie fisheries.
Late August is tough unless you are going to the Arctic Circle. Unfortunately, you'd have to be fishing for something like Grayling. No Muskies there ...

Maybe Lake St. Clair????

If you are from Cleveland, you probably know about Pymatuning. Unless you know what you are getting into, beware of the Allegheny Reservoir. It is really tough. You would do a lot better going to Chautauqua. A real challenge: St. Lawrence River. Great by reputation: The Kawartha Lakes, Ontario.

St. Clair would be the closest Big fish fishery. Give me a call if you want to go out in the Fall. 16 over 50 in a month with a 50 pounder. Not to many lake you can do that.
