Posts: 158 | Does anyone use a thermacell for skeeters in your boat after it gets dark? I used to use them religiously while baiting bears and they worked great....but it was hanging around my neck. Anyone have any experience putting one on the deck of your boat when the sun goes down? Would it work the same? Okay, drrrrrrrrrr.....I now see a post below about bugs.....sorry. Posts: 437 | Agreed, they work pretty dang well considering all the air movement, etc that can be going on. I even used the succesfully on Mille Lacs after a huge bug hatch. Didnt keep them all away, but it wasnt nearly as bad as other boats. Two thumbs up on it!

Posts: 157 | I've used one for 2 years as well and it's a god-send. I place it on the bow right between the trolling motor and the depthfinder. With the forward pull of the trolling motor it seems to keep the "cloud" of thermacell gas. When you go to the back of the boat you'll notice a lot more bugs. My thinking is that the gas diffuses the further away, just like it would happen with most things. I.E. Farts.

Posts: 510 Location: Ludington, MI | Anyone tried the lantern? I bought one today, $9.88 at Wallyworld vs. $22 for the other unit. Wondering if I should open it or not. I'll probably end up with both unless someone says the lantern is terrible. Gives a diffuse light, according to the package.

That's what I've relied upon for several years now; I just take my son Keith fishing and have him in the bow ahead of me. A cloud of gas surrounds him 24/7 and actually seems to kill mosquitoes on contact.

Posts: 157 | I fish in the front of the boat so the guy in the back gets the added benefit of the fart as well as the thermacell! ![]() ![]() ![]()
