I buy a couple of the new lures every year and I was wondering what are the hot new lures for 2011. Any advice helps. Thanks

Interesting article in the Star Tribune online here. This is one out of a handful of very good fishermen who are making bold statements about an exclusive Swimbait that is still somewhat under the radar.

James,

I will be ordering a few baits from you before I head to Canada in August. Really like the T.I rods that I got from you late last fall. Make tossing your Dominatrix effortless!

That shadzilla looks interesting. I see they sell the replacement bodies. Are they fairly easy to change out?

I really hope one is a 2 piece casting rod that can throw heavier lures?

Actually I am working on a 2 piece casting rod for lures up to ~20oz. Sounds easy but that connection point at around 4.5' is a tough bugger to get it right for a heavy action rod like this while keeping good balance and action. So far I have a bunch of kindling

As for new lure pictures killerbug, see below for my new Shad Diver lure. The tail on this is not painted but you get the overall idea. Very cool the way this one runs. Also fixed the belly hook arrangement so the hooks do not fowl into each other.Through wire construction but the back belly hook is attached to a semi external wire harness that extends back under the rubber tail. Not my idea, got it while watching guides modify other baits on musky shows. I think one of them was Greg Thomas and another was Jason Hamernick. Good ideas for modifying baits.

I will post a few more pictures of the new lures soon.
James

adudeuknow,
The week of June 20 I will have my new MH, XH and XXH rods with both split and full grip handles ready to ship. 9' rods built on single piece rod blanks of the same blank design I have right now. Same high tech fibers and glues I have used on my current rod blanks and they feel as good or better! Same weight as the high end rods too for lightness in the same power categories. The XH rod weighs in at around 12-13oz. Not sure if you will find a 9' XH rod to throw up to 12oz baits at that weight until you hit $250+ rods. And I thought I wasted my time taking chemistry and physics in college

One bait thats new to my arsenal this year is the Mag Warlock. Now I'm not sure when they first came out, but these things are about the sweetest glide bait/jerk bait I have ever thrown. twitch'em, rip'm, jerk'm. They are awsome!

Now for a little shameless self promotion. My (Big Mama Lure Co.) Twis'td Sis'tr's and Psycho Sis'trs are a pretty durable and versatile top water prop bait. Weighing 3.5-4.oz. they hold their own in the water, resisting being blown out like lighter top water baits, solid construction and 5/0 and 7/0 hooks teamed with a heavy duty large stainless steel blade on the tail. Give them a try!

They are a piece of cake to change out the plastic bodies. The first time I put a replacement body on an old harness it took me awhile because I thought the soft plastic might tear. But it is a lot tougher than you might think.
All you do is pop the treble hooks off with a split ring pliers and pull the harness out of the top of the bait where there is a slit in the dorsal fin. Put the back end of the harness into the opening in the dorsal of your replacement body, pushing it back into the hollow tail section, then push the front, lead part of the harness in and move it up towards the head. Pop the hook hangers and attachment ring through the plastic and put your trebles back on and you have a brand new bait!
A step by step video should be in the works, but it's pretty simple and a great feature of this product.
I should also mention that Mend-It! works great with these and you will normally catch several fish before having to change out the body.

James,

I am looking forward to the 8's and the Spinnerbaits. What is the profile going to be on the glider?

I am trying desperately to up-date my website with a whole bunch of custom colors. Problem as always is time, I am flat out filling orders. Either call me or send me an email is best, then I can send you pictures of the custom colors that will eventually be going on the website. If you call me and I don’t answer the phone, leave a message, if I am pouring or painting I can’t get to the phone.

Some more that will be going on the website

I will have a few new lure lines out soon.

5) 6" glider

I just got done watching a video for the Rapala Glidin Rap and was going to ask if you had thought about adding some weight and removing the lip on your Super Ciscos.
