This past season I trolled with a couple 8 year old accudepth 47's that are really beat up from years of salmon fishing with 65 lb power pro and a brand new 47 with 20 or 30 lb big game. Both Set ups worked but am wondering if I should be going with the 57's and if so what line to use? Power pro is #*^@ expensive but I like it on my far outside lines because of the amount of line out.. And On the other hand big game works and is cheap.

Any Suggestions are appreciated and will grant you good musky Karma..

I just got a new trolling set-up a couple of months ago but have not even had it in the water yet. I opted for the Accudepth 47LC... I saw the 57 first hand and in person and it just looked like a monster to me. I read a lot of really good reviews and everyone I found had really good things to say about the 47LC. Plus, I scored a sweet deal on eBay so it was a no-brainer for me.

For line, I went with 40lb. Big Game mono and I only did that because most of the lakes I'd be trolling are relatively shallow. The reefs, structure, weed beds, etc, etc. aren't going to peak at anything deeper than 10-ft... with 8-ft. probably being closer to an average. Based on that, I just didn't want the lures diving the extra 1-2/ft. by using braid instead of mono. Plus, I kinda like the fact that mono has that stretch factor you can take into consideration.

Not sure if that helps or not... but those are the things I used to base my decision. If you can find a sweet deal on a 57 and have personally seen one... I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I'd save the cash and just get a 47. Sounds like you're familiar with them and already know what they're capable of judging from the fact you've had yours for over eight year.

I would have to agree that the 57's are huge and the old 47's held up for a long time for me... Plus you have to put way more line on the 57's. I bought a new 47LC last season and think you will love it.. Even the clicker is really loud which is always great to hear..even if you are pullin a trick on your buddy who is dosing off in the boat.. haha.
Thanks for the detailed reply Scott.. This is what I needed to here.
