Had a trailer tire come off on the way to the lake Saturday morning, not cool. I repacked all my wheel bearings a few weeks ago and tightened everything up properly. Unbeknownst to me and a little late to the party, a buddy tells me with aluminum wheels sometimes the lugs back themselves off and in my case that resulted in a trailer tire coming loose. Minimal damage considering what happened, just have to replace all the studs on the hub or get a new hub. Thank God I had a tandem axle trailer!

When is the last time you checked your lug nuts? Might be worth a look!

Yep always a good idea to check the lugs 100-200 miles after rotating tires, or whenever you have monkeyed with them. Even if you have someone else do your work and they don't mention it to you.

I not only tightened the lug nuts but went over every nut on the trailer. Boat was in the water so easy to do. Some of the trailer bolts and such were a little lose.

I had the same thing happen about 4 years ago on my single axle trailer. I changed the tires around and didn't have them tight enough. Bent the crap out of my trailer as well. What a mess... I check them every once in a while now...
