Subject: Provoker Pro jerkbait ?

I just picked up 2 at a garage sale for cheap plus they were in perch and dull perch. I don't have a clue about these baits and having second thoughts about even using these baits as my time on the water is precious. Are these baits any good? are these glide baits or jerkbaits ? Also there is a tiny threaded hole after the first hook that looks like a weight can be screwed in. Where can I get these weights? Be honest about these baits, I don't want to be wasting "my time on the water".Tell me anything you can - even who makes them- I want to be educated about these baits. Thanks, Roy - [email protected]

I think they are ok. Without the weight they are a topwater like a Jackpot. If you use a weight they are a subsurface glider. They are similar to a Viper.

Hi Gang,
I am not familiar with the bait you speak of, but I grabbed some wieghts built for the Viper at Thorne Bros. There were several different wieghts, I grabbed the heaviest, 1 oz., to see if I could make that Viper run 5-6 ft deep.

They were only about $1, don't know if the thread on yours will match, but if you are near a musky bait shop I am sure they would let you try to screw one into your lure to see if it works.

I'd recommend you try them, see if they run well and maybe try a weight or 2, before they go into the swap box.

Good luck,
Papa Joe
