Posts: 309 Location: Elgin IL | Looking to get my boat carpet replaced in my Ranger 618vs. I bought the Carpet from Ranger. Any suggestions or recommendations around northwest burbs Chicago? I know it's relatively easy to replace carpet on small removable aras in a boat, but don't have time to do it myself right now. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Edited by msky3 4/17/2011 5:16 PM Attachments ---------------- 618 carpet_1.jpg (51KB - 636 downloads)

Posts: 313 Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | Don't know about the carpet but how does the boat perform with that Suzuki? Top end speed, also how low does it troll down? I have a 135 Opti on the same boat, but have considered changing it up for the 150 Suzuki. Thx.

Posts: 309 Location: Elgin IL | You will love the Suzuki...with a 4 blade SS prop tops out 54.5GPS and as far as trolling not sure how slow but have trolled many Hrs at 2.5 to 5 mph. Once you own a Suzuki you will never go back Attachments ---------------- suzy 150_1.JPG (68KB - 314 downloads)

Posts: 313 Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | Bought the boat used and the Opti was on it. I have a 16.5ft Alumacraft with a 70 Johnson 4 stroke (the guts are all Suzuki, all thats Johnson about it is the cover) and it is a great motor. Thx for the info.

What are your top end rpms with a 25 pitch on a 150 ? I would think you are severely lugging( not getting to the required rpm range) for that engine. Just a thought to hopefully help you in the long run,

Posts: 309 Location: Elgin IL | Suzuki motors can handle the 25 pitch because of the low gear and I'm also using a 4 blade prop. Jumps up on plane and I hit 6000-6200 rpms. Attachments ---------------- 618 Ranger 2_1.jpg (15KB - 136 downloads)

Posts: 309 Location: Elgin IL | I decided to try the floor of the boat myself. Now I know why they charge so much. I removed the carpet and used 3m adhesive remover and removed most of the clue. What kind of glue do I need and do I need to clean floor with some cleaner so the glue and carpet adhere correctly. Attachments ---------------- carpet removal_1.JPG (51KB - 180 downloads)

Posts: 1142 Location: NorthCentral WI | When I redid the carpet in my boat I got a tub of some actual "marine" carpet adhesive from Fleet Farm and spread it on with a putty knife. After 3 years the carpet still looks great and is not lifting at all. This is the way I did it: (I'm no professional but it did turn out very well) 1. Rough cut the carpet to fit the area, leaving 2-4" of extra material around the edges. 2. Fold back the carpet and begin glueing in the center. 3. Working your way out to the edges, be sure to really push the carpet as if you were stretching it in a room. 4. Stop gluing about 6" from the edge. 5. Now that the carpet is pretty well stretched, go along and trim the excess 2-4" off the carpet edges for the perfect fit. (Obviously use shop vac to clean up the fibers after trimming. You don't want all that under your carpet.) 6. Liberally apply glue to the remaining outer 6" of the glass and glue down the carpet. It was a very tedious job but I took my time and it turned out great. BTW, I used a razor scraper like you have there and removed all of the glue before putting down new carpet. Scraped it nice and clean and then wiped the surface down with some hot water. Edited by MartinTD 5/13/2011 11:00 AM

Posts: 74 Location: Brainerd, MN 56401 | I work in a upholstery shop in north central MN, and the best way to go is to use spray glue. Use an automotive style spray gun and shoot it on both sides (carpet and floor).
