Posts: 388 | I have a LMS334 that I am considering networking to a new HDS7. What I am wondering is what exactly can I accomplish by doing this? Can waypoints be synchronized? Can my Navionics card be shared? Can sonar data be shared?

Navionics card info has never been able to be shared between two units, you have to have two chips, one for each unit. Sonar data cannot be shared either, only with similar units, LCX to LCX or LCX-LMS, HDS to HDS units only for sonar.

Posts: 388 | Thanks TJ - question around the waypoints, I assume that you select one unit as the primary which retains the memory? Can you mark a spot from both locations and have it stored in the HDS? My setup will be with the HDS on the bow as I do more casting than anything but have always used the bow setup to watch depth as I drive. GPS is a little difficult to use from that location so I plan to use the older LMS for that purpose.

Both have to be connected by the NMEA 2000 network. In order to connect these two, since your running an older unit to an newer unit, your going to need an adapter piece. This can get quite confusing, your best off to ask or talk with a experienced Lowrance person in person.

In order to share waypoints between two different units you need to have a NMEA 2000 network (you can also do it though the old NMEA 0183). Doing it this way through two different types of units, however, you do not have full waypoint synchronization as you would with 2 HDS units.

Posts: 388 | My LMS 334 does not have ethernet - it has the blue network socket so I assume that the common transducer is not an option?
