Subject: Lakemaster, Navionics or Hot Spots chip?????

Recently purchased a Lowrance HDS 7 Base (Not Insight) and am looking to purchase a mapping card. Which manufacturer provides the best performance for this unit? I have heard good things about all but, also have heard that Navionics is a better match for Lowrance and Lakemaster is a better match for Hummingbird. Any info or help is greatly appreciated!

I tried both in my HDS last fall on Vermilion, the new Lakemaster didn't last long in my unit before going back to my Navionics, so thats my personal choice. I sold the Lakemaster...

I would look up both chip lake listings and determine which ones are on the different chips to help with your decision. You may find certain lakes you are interested in fishing on one chip verses another.

I run both the Navionics and Lakemaster chips and have multiple Lowrance HDS units. (Disclaimer: I am considered to be on the Lakemaster pro staff so I have an obvious bias) Navionics covers a wider region of lakes with detail while region specific I think Lakemaster could have more lakes mapped depending on your location. I have run both Navionics side by side with Lakemaster at times when I have found both Navionics and Lakemaster to have the same lake mapped which I find very interesting at times.
