| Unbelievable. Last evening, about 6:30 PM, the neighbor kid knocked on the door. He said somebody stole my boy's bike. In broad daylight!! I hit the door running, jumped in the truck, and went to try to find the ba$tard.
The daughter was riding her bike with her freinds, and the garage door was open. This guy rode up on an old POS bike, went in the garage, and took off on Eric's bike. I always try to keep the door closed, especially at night. But when the kids are out playing in the yard, or the neighborhood, I just didn't think that this would happen.
One of these days, I'm going to catch one of these scumballs. When he wakes up, he's gonna find he's about a hundred miles away, in the middle of nowhere, with "I'm a Thief" tattooed on his forehead! I'm still shaking, I'm so angry![:(]
4 more years, and I'm gonna join Jason in a move up north, where more civil people live.
Tight lines,
Shep[:sun:] [:(] |

| I know how you feel. 4 Days before I left for the Chip I heard a noise outside my house. After looking out the window for about 5 minutes I saw some kid running from my boat. I called 911 and stood still in the window. He came back a second time and I ran out to chase him but he was gone. After the cops came I realized he didn't break into the boat, but busted the window on my car and stole my stereo. The cops didn't find him and I ended up with a bill for window repair and a new stereo. I guess best thing is to be thankful nobody was hurt. Oh, except for him because the moron cut himself breaking the window and left blood in my car. I hope the MF got a nasty infection and needed some type of amputation. It's just a shame.

| Same thing happened across the street from us. Only 20 houses coming up the hill which is .5 miles long + we are at the top on a dead end circle...never saw anyone but found out a kid from a high end section east of us had walked through the woods + through a big field + taken the kids bike from a open garage. 2 weeks or so later the dad was at the river park down from the house + saw the kid riding his sons bike...he got it back + called the police. Maybe you will get it back! |

| This is really messed up...on the local news yesterday they were talking about how an elderly man had his wheelchair stolen. They found some kids playing with it. |

| Shep, you don't want to catch them trust me. Bad things can happen. When I was in collage, I heard a noise and looked out my window to see a guy ripping the speakers out of the back of my car. I was barefoot at the time and put on a pair of tongs and grabbed a ball bat. I chased him a hundred or so yards almost catching him even though he dropped my speakers. Luckily I seen a another guy I knew lived in the nieghborhood and he was hiding. I figured they were together and dragged him back and called the cops. Had I caught him, it would have been my ass. Had I had tennies on I would have. The cops knew who he was and I never heard what happened over the incident. |

| My daughter's bike was stolen several years ago. It was a brand-new Schwinn BMX bike and chrome-colored. A few months later, I heard thru the grapvine that the bike was in the front yard of a house a couple blocks from my house. I went directly over there and saw the bike (now painted with pink paint) laying on the lawn. I called for a police unit (I myself am a police officer) to respond just in case to CYA. The officer arrived and we ran the serial number for a stolen check (I had provided the serial number in the police report). The number came back to my daughter's bike.
I then went to the front door and the lady answering the door told me that her daughter had found the bike in the woods. However, she couldn't explain to me why her daughter had hand-painted a brand new chrome bicycle, pink or a recovered property report had never been taken by the police!!
I left the lady's house that day with a check for the purchase of a new bike!!!! Hope her daughter likes the pink bike!! Her daughter was 10 years old!
Wondering...did her daughter learn anything that day, or did the mother? Score one for the good-guys! [] |

| I remember one day I was on police patrol and saw two young lads riding ten-speeds across the roadway. It struck me kind of odd that they were carrying a third bike!! I stopped them and discovered that not only was the third bike stolen, but that all three were stolen. I arrested them and took them to the station after we searched the neighborhood for a (possible) storage truck for their loot.
At the station, I questioned these unfortunate young lads from the inner-city (Washington, DC), wondering why they had ridden a transit bus all the way into our community (about 25 miles north of the DC line), to steal the bikes. One of them said: "you people can afford to buy the bikes-we can't." Is there something wrong with this picture?
Wondering...anybody think I was profiling that day? [] |

| While you were home....!!!! Now that takes ba!!s I remember just after I moved north from Tosa my Mom had a camera stollen from the front seat of her van while it was parked in the driveway, just off of 73rd and North ave....
We get our share of two-bit thieves here but on a smaller scale....
Ca'mon up Shep....maybe we can get a volume discount if we rent a U-haul for you and Jason at the same time[]
Lets see...winter storage for my boats, Smiths boat and yours... I better put an addition on the shop [:)]
Good Luck, hope he can get it back...

| Shep,
Last year, my neighbors rods, reels and gear were stolen out of his boat in broad daylight.
He was getting his boat ready for a trip and was gathering his gear. He decided to first throw his gear in the boat for the time being and then to switch to his truck. BUMMER!!
I am going to make lockable storage compartments, then cover my boat if is outside. For now, I keep the boat in the garage, and close the garage door when possible. I have the kids running in and out, so sometimes that garage door needs to be open.
It is unfortunate that you cannot even trust some of the people in and around your neighborhood.

| I was at a party one time and knew everybody there. When I left, somebody had stolen my clarion equalizer out of my camaro. Was a nice neighborhood and knew everybody and did not lock my car. Stupid. It took awhile but I found out who stole it and who he sold it to. I called the person who bought it and told him I am coming over, have the equalizer out and ready when I get there. He did. |

| A muskie once ate my spinnerbait...jumped over the weed line and ran. Broke my line and took off jumping out of the water showing off his new jewelry.
