Looking for some info on this area of lake of the woods. Mainly how much pressure it sees in the summer months. Looking to maybe spend a week there this year for the annual musky trip.

Thanks,

Whats pressure to you? July and August see the most pressure but there is litterly endless spots to fish and your not a far drive from many other area's of the lake to fish.

Hey Ryan,

Yeah, just looking to avoid a ton of boat traffic if we can. We're tossing around a few ideas right now besides North west Angle. Maybe Eagle lake in the fall, which we've done the past few years. However the weather wasn't very good to us last October. Maybe Ash rapids area ( kind of near Shoal Lake) in summer. We've done that trip a few times in August. Not a bad area to fish. Some monsters there for sure.

It can be busy at times during what everyone thnks is prime time, but as Ryan says there's lots of spots. There's a reason that these folks come year after year and that's because they catch fish.

In my experience, the busiest time in the NW Angle is from early to mid-July until about mid-August. There are certain spots/areas that get relatively heavy pressure, i.e., spots getting fished multiple times daily by multiple boats. But there is more than enough room to move around and there really is no reason to get in on one of those breadlines.

Basically, you can expect to have company. But you can still find plenty of unfished/underfished water away from other boats.

It gets 'busy' during July and August but thats a relative term. There is so much water that even during a busy week you won't really notice. I mean, I've fished there for the last 8 yrs for a week at a time I can't think of more than a couple times that I've found someone on the spot I wanted. I'll have more boats on my spot in a day fishing a minnetonka then a week on woods.

And even if a spot is being fished, as said before there are a lot of spots nearby and you can discover an under-the-radar spot. At least that is how we found one of our more productive shorelines last year. I would give it a try and not not go because you think it might be busy. Woods is an awesome lake. Good luck
