Posts: 2361 | This is 3 days after the fact but, fishing Thursday 23, found heavily clay washed water up Bull Run and it was in the mid low 60's. Upper 40's in main lake flow. Lake drawn down and landing boat a challenge. Raised one fish, in spite of what I thought were favorable weather conditions. Did not bite, but I did manage to give the bait a violent jerk and hit the fish. Not planned, the fish was actually supposed to hit the bait, not visa versa, and pretty well disappeared the fish with that stunt. Down lake found another bolus of warm water, but warm water did not help me cash in. I am suspicous that the Bull Run Creek fish are in the process of spawning, or might have done it on the later part of the full moon. But the fish I raised was down lake and out of the warmer water so, they aren't all doing whatever it is they might be doing. It is getting to the real iffy part of the season down here, but you can't control mother nature. I did see suckers and carp running the banks of some of the downstream hollows and this is definitely a change for this season. Had not spotted this activity at all on the last trip. It gets real busy once this starts. I got rained on bad before leaving, and unfortunately did not choose to put on my bibs due to the fact I believed it was just "spitting", and I was right, and it spit a whole lot of water, then turned around and spit some white marbles at me, and those really hurt, especially when you are less than half a mile from the boat landing, and thought your "weather eye" had things spotted out. | ||
