What is your response to cut offs?

You know the guy that drives up and see's you fishing a shoreline or weedline east to west and stops in front of you and cuts off all your fresh water.

I just pick up the creature rod and pop one underneath their boat...[;)]

How about when you are working 2 casts away from the docks and one of the bubba bassers blows between you and the docks to get back to the ramp for weigh in? [:(]

I either say something right there, or bomb a mag dawg or other very heavy loud bait right at their boat....I can be pretty accurate at times. Seriously, it depends on the situation, if there are 350 acres and 40 boats, there is no cutting off.....then again, I did get cut off on a 400 acre private lake by the only other person on the lake at the time, and YES I did say something very loud, and very pointedly.

I will usually do nothing, cause many people are stupid and don't care...but once in awhile I will throw something heavy and loud right in front of them. I often have it happen with canoes...one of these days I will cast into a canoe and drag it to the boat...then release it...upside down

I will answer my own topic on this one.

Fishing a really preasured body of water, I see this all the time. When I guided, I saw it more then most.[;)]

But I learned something from it all....If I said something I was an ***hole. If I did nothing and worked around it, everything was fine, and often I found that I could catch fish behind someone else. Its kind of a catch 22. If you yell you are an eletist pig and that turns folks off, if you are kind to them at the launch and later bring the subject out in your conversation, they are almost always sorry and they will learn there lessen.

I think the trick is to softly and kindly teach them latter at the landing. Yelling and pitching baits at each other, never teaches anyone anything.

Its just a fish, we catch and release it...and there are plenty to share.[;)]

It happened to Hook and I this weekend @ Cass 2x on the same spot! I just flick the trolling motor on high and run right up their a$$! When I start getting close enough I start casting right in front of them. They got the picture[:sun:]

Jason S,
Nice reply.

Usually how I fish I don't have to worry about it much, ie, drifting in the middle of nowhere. However, I did have an incident happen to me in 1998 that stands out. After catching a 37", two boats came out by me and flanked me, one on each side, about 2-3 cast lengths away. This pinched off my drift line and I got a little frustrated with the whole deal, especially considering there were a few hundred acres just like what I was drifting over. I didn't say anything at first, but looked back at their presentation style, etc., and felt pretty confident they were not going to catch a fish. Anyway, I then caught a 40" and 44.5" right in front of them. One of the boats even came within 1/2 of a cast length while I was tripod photographing the 44.5". While I was releasing the bigger one, I heard the second boat say they just had a follow from a mid 30" class fish. I let them pass me up (flanking me). Then motored back up wind where they had the follow and 1 cast later popped a 35"er. I didn't have to say a thing. I heard a few obsenities from their boats and they picked up and left. I'm glad I didn't say anything on this particular day except when I yelled "praise the Lord!" while I let the 4th one go in front of them. [:)]
