Posts: 569 | Which style are guys using to make wire leaders? I have seen knipex brand but am unsure if one style/length etc. is better than another. Here is a website where I have found some different models. http://www.crawfordtool.com/knipex_round%20nose%20pliers.html

Posts: 388 | The 2201 is fine. Size depends on how small you want to form your loop. The smallest loop that you can make depends on tip diameter of the pliers. You probably don't need the 7" pliers for most musky wire applications.

Posts: 717 Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Those prices look kind of steep... I went to the local sewing/fabric shop and picked some up. $7. Yeah, you have to kind of hide your face walking into a place like that, but it's worth it. The shop by me was called "Michaels". Don't know if that's a nation-wide chain or not.

Location: The Yahara Chain | Craftsman makes one that does a great job. It handles the thick wire just fine. $10 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00945666000P

Posts: 469 Location: MN | I use Knipex 22180 model. Easy to work with 0.62. Great tool and the 7" size is matching to the size of my hands a lot better then 5" ( I have this one as well) I actually bought it from Crawford Tool. The order was delivered in a week or so. Good folks. If you are planning to make wire leader only you probably don't need 7" model, but for bending 0.51 & 0.62 I'd highly recommend it.
