With all the Spring Hearing talk of 28" size limits it got me thinking, why not open those lakes up for an earlier start to the season? First saturday of may opener? Catch and release only? Thoughts?

Let me ask you this:

Why do you think there are different openers for Southern and Northern WI??

It was tried by using a political 'end around' and soundly and thankfully defeated.

Why? Because N0orthern WI is one of the few places where the muskies can reproduced naturally. Leave them be, its far better for them to pick their mate than a WDNR technician.

I had a guy call me and told me about a 50 he caught in N WI - his very 1st 50 on Memorial Day. Being a late spring that year, when he picked her up for a pic, eggs spilled from her. That's not good. If you move that date up, it will be more common and the number of lakes that will be effected, will be far greater. So let them be while they doing their thing.
