| Checking the results thus far, the two I find interesting is the choice of bucktail sizes in stained water, and the choice of best bucktail sizes in clear water. Neither answer is really trending the way I anticipated.
I mght need to readjust my thinking on these. |

| Another interesting result, people choosing the 4-8 foot range for stained water surface baits best range.
I can't really claim to throw many surface baits in 6-8 feet, and I have fished alot of stained water up north.
But I've caught a bunch of fish in the under 4 feet range, and some bigger ones. |

| I'm still confused a little by these choices.
I see that the best bucktail choice in stained water is double 10's and yet my own experience indicates a sad lack of action on double 10's, though I know some are caught on them. How dark is the staining where you toss them.
I also see the group is split on size choice for clear water, which is another surprise. Evidently there are still a bunch of us catching musky on smaller bucktails even though double 10s seem to be selected overwhelmingly as universally the best bucktail. I know if I ever go to Canada for some easy musky fishing, that double 10's are a must up there, but just haven't seen much on them other places. What is that deal.
Everyone seems to agree that WI fish tend to not come in to a figure 8 as much as Canada and MN, but is that truly a genetic thing? I know down here they have been flipping the strains around and more fish have been going into 8's the last couple years, but also, the fish are smarter........but..........the interesting perception by me is.........they don't seem to be particularly boat shy. Boat shy is something I have seen a bunch of in northern WI.
Well, some interesting trends noted in this non scientific question group. It would be fascinating to actually document genetic differences in catchability if they exist in current musky genetics. People seem to suggest it by their observations in articles and conversation. I don't get to fish MN or Canada enough to really do a side by side. Thanks for everybody that took time to check some stuff here. |

First Q should have had another to go with it that suggests C&R makes fish more leary. Not sure how selective harvest makes muskies leary as if they were harvested they wouldn't have to worry about eating again. Not sure anyone practices selective harvest with muskies.
You left out the best depth range for top waters in clear waters. That would be over 15'! |

The poll option is somewhat limited as to what you can do. I realized there were some problems going through the questions. Easier to go a question at a time and do two or three choices, one answer. Zach you'd win a prize, but then everyone who didn't answer any, would be outraged and wanting theirs( and they aint gonna get theirs). |

Location: Eastern Ontario | I know of one tagged fish that was recaught 14 times that I know of, it was 45 inches when I tagged it and 51 inches on my last encounter. 8 of the recaptures were mine and all onthe same lure she either wasn't real smart or knew I just wanted to play. |

Location: Eastern Ontario | It matters little if the fish become more warry I don't actually think they do because of the many recaptures we had of tagged fish, what matters is that the fish lived to spawn again.
I really don't think increased size limits do much in this day and age when almost all muskie anglers are release oriented and the survival rate is not going to be good where the casual angler is not prepared with the proper release equipment. |
