My son and I went muskie fishing today and he had three hook ups and landed this 41 inch female:

I had one hook up and accidentally fell into the river from a canoe. Other than the cold water, it was a good day...

Nice. You know if those muskies didn't fight so frantically when we hook them, I'd doubt many would fish them

It took me a few minutes to get the camera out of the truck and get back down to the ramp to take the picture. We had a string through the muskies mouth and kept her in the water until we could get the picture and measurements, and then had a good release on her. My son worked with her the whole time to get her revived so it worked out well.

I was glad that I put my camera back in the truck instead of having it in my pocket when I fell into the river...

FYI, those boga grip things are NOT good for the fish.

Word! Besides, he's fishing from a canoe. Not much room for a giant net.

yeah, we don't like using the Boca grip and usually use a landing net. sometimes when we are fishing from a kayak or canoe, we'll take a grip.

I honestly might try the rope through jaw idea... I have caught some fish wading solo and had no way of getting a decent picture so I just snapped a photo with my phone and let it go. The rope would act like a leash for the musky as I set up my camera with the fish still in the water.

I caught a muskie one evening when I was by myself, so I set up my camera to take an automatic picture. Couldn't get the camera up high enough, so I had to lean way back to get me and the fish in the picture. The picture looked so ridiculous that my wife wouldn't let me show it to anyone...

Neither is ramming hooks into their faces and dragging them back to the boat, not to mention putting them in a net or holding them out of the water for a picture...
