Posts: 537 Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | Did anyone else notice that there was more Curly sue's and Suzy sucker's being re-sold at the Okuma swap, than there was in Andy's booth at the show??? Seemed like every table had several. Last year they seemed to be a hot item being sold, this year they seemed to be a hot item to get rid of.

Posts: 717 Location: Grand Rapids, MI | I didn't think there was THAT many. No more Shack Attack than there was any other of 1 lure. My brother asked me to get a DD for him. That's just 1 kind of Drifter lure. I think I had 8 to choose from there.

Posts: 8781 | Seems like the swap meet is a good representation of whatever lures sold the best at the shows two years ago. One year it was a Gapen Paradise. Last year there were bulldawgs on every table. I saw quite a few Shack Attack lures this year, and a lot of Tackle Industries stuff. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them, it just means that there are a lot of guys who go ape#*#* over the hot new lure for the year, buy more of them than they can ever use in every color, and then a year or two later they look at them and think "Why did I buy all that? I need one or two, NOT ten!" and off to the swap they go.

Lool for made in america on the orignal lures. I`ve never seen a copy of a curly sue, they have there own look and can tell from a distance away, same with dawgs, super d`s look totally different.but I guess alot of people were drunk and need to look close up on things so they don`t get fooled, kinda like the guy who thought a 50 was a 20,I was honest and didn`t rip him off.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | 5+ years ago when I was still in start up mode I had guys buy lures from me in bulk just for swap meets. They said they did very well and traded lures for reels, rods, etc.

Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | CASTING55 - I`ve never seen a copy of a curly sue, they have there own look and can tell from a distance away.... I know of two S.A. clones. I even got one from a guy here in the Buy/Sell who sold it as one, and it looked good until it got here... The other brand is decent quality, but doesn't have the "Made in America" on the tail. They're on ebay. BTW, stopped and talked to Andy at Chicago, (and bought a few more Sues...) and what a great guy! Great philosophy, personality, and you can tell he really cares about what he's making. I was a customer of his before I met him, but now I'm even more so.

Posts: 537 Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | I was not knocking the lure, just thought I saw a ton of them on the tables. I have a few and have caught fish on them. I was just wondering Why?? EA makes a good point...maybe in a couple years there will be tons of double dawgs and 10" hellhounds. I also did not realize that there were copies out. Thanks.

Found a link for some copies of Suzy Suckers. They're called O-BAIT Muskie Hunter Regular Suckers. They can be purchased through overstockbait.com for $7. I assume they aren't the same quality of Shack Attack, but there are copies... http://www.overstockbait.com/O_BAIT_Muskie_Hunter_Regular_Sucker_p/...

As far as the colors, some are different and I see in the clones, so that'd be a giveaway to someone who doesn't have SA's color catalog memorized, but I'll see if I can get some pics tonight.
