I've been using an Abu Record with my Top n Tail, but am looking to purchase a new reel to replace it. After researching, it appears that both the Curado E and Revo Toro are what people are using with this rod. What are some of the pros and cons for each???? If the Revo, is the HS version needed, or is the regular version okay??? Any suggestions would help.

Thanks

I have both the reels (thouch i dont have a Top N Tail)

For lures up til about 3 oz i like the Curado more, for lures over 3 oz i like the Toro.
I like the Toros syncronized levelwind but the Curado is more comfortable to palm. They are both very similar reels, you will be happy with any of them.

Shimano Calcutta 400B. Fished this combo for two seasons now and won't be changing the set up anytime soon. Prob put in 100 or so days this year and it was hard to get this set up out of my hand.

I have confidence in Shimano and have nothing but great experiences with their customer service department.

It almost sounds to me as if you have your mind made up. The Revo is definitely what I would go with too. Used a winch all year on a 8' heavy St.Croix Avid and plan to buy a HS Toro over the winter or in the spring for my 7'6" St.Croix split grip "The Jerk"

I've been using the Revo for two seasons now.
It's an absolute perfect match.

The Revo I use is the 5.4:1 ratio.

I have the revo toro on my top and tail. It's a great glider combo. I find that I'm using the top and tail more than I use my slingblade or the big dog. It's a great rod for regular bulldawgs, bucktails, and gliders.
