I vote for keeping reports coming, even if the lake isn't named- I, for one, enjoy regardless

[...]

Should I and others of my generation accuse you 'youngsters' who are 40 or less of causing all this ruckus? Before YOU started muskie fishing, I had the lakes pretty much to myself. Ridiculous? [...]

Only in muskie fishing is the guy who works full-time 40 hours a week or more is the lazy slob, but the guy who is fortunate enough to fish every day is the "hard worker". Only kidding of course, but I do find that slightly humorous as well.

When and if I catch a monster on LOTW, I will certainly put in lake X. I mean, seriously, who wants the word to get out on that place?

Ryan

I see what you mean, guess that didn't come out right. Many will do the work, but so many people are looking for the easy fix on all the forums out there....and not just in muskie fishing, it's nearly every outdoor sport and I guess that's what fueled my post last night - sorry, guess this post just hit a nerve that's been twitching for a while.

I feel this way because of one sport in particular - I'm an avid shed hunter...was a shed hunter long before the internet shed forums popped up and since the internet, shed hunting is a completely different sport now and in some areas has become pretty cut throat - never ever thought when I was a kid growing up finding sheds that one day I'd hear about guys paying $$ to shed hunt because some landowners know there are people willing to pay to access some of the best ground for it. It got to the level because of forums and the ease of sharing "too much" info before realizing the effects it was going to have. Luckly for us, muskie waters are public and nobody will ever charge us to fish! Anyway...this is a muskie forum...sorry for the rant...

Forums have many great things too and I know they take a lot of maintenence to maintain so hats off to those willing to put in the time. Meeting other people at the same level of insanity regarding anything you want to do is my favorite part of online communities...that's the fun part, and so is sharing pictures of big fatties - I just wish there were more pics! Here is the one I tried to post last night from that fantastic Lake X.

And before the web it was radio, TV, magazines, newspapers, books, resorts at shows and guides who passed on the information to the public. All sorts of local and national contests, even in Canada. Ask anyone who was there about Wabigoon, portions of LOTW, Minaki, etc. No World Wide Web to blame there and back then there were no GPS coordinates to share with your 'trusted friends'.

Steve - you gotta admit that even with all of those resources combined they were no where nearly as accessible to everyone like the click of a mouse is. Agree? The info was still out there, but it took more work to access for the guy wanting to chase "X" fish or critter, so my uneducated guess is the ease of the internet and forums such as this one have fueled the "boom" in fisherman under 40.

This fish was caught on your favorite lake, at your spot 5 minuets before you fished it. Enjoy!

Along with Lake X is the notorious Area Lake that is renowned for producing big fish.

FlyFish failed to mention that this particular lake has no public access, and the only way to fish it is to carry a canoe over a mile through old snowmobile trails.

"For those that want to only brag and yet not really help or contribute to only feed their own egos"

that's funny!

I say, post all the pics you want, and keep your mouth shut about everything else aside from telling us the story and how everyone was excited when it happened.

we dont need to know what lake, frankly this year is proving that giants live in just about every major lake and river in north america. Catching them is a different story.
