Just curious how many folks tried their tournament skills on what must have been a record weekend. I fished the WMT Summit where there was about 50 teams, heard the PMTT was another 50 teams, the Worral tournament 125, the Frank Schneider Memorial in Minnesota is always big, the Hodag was in Rhinelander, there was also an event on North and South Twin and Lord knows how many other events besides these six. I just wonder what the total number of all those guys and gals was out there tossing baits for prizes. Two things come to mind. One is that we are a formidable economic force that can bring a lot of money to a lot of the places we go. The other is how amazing it would be if there was one really big Super place to fish where if you won there....you beat everybody....everybody but Lijewski and Shroeder that is....if the tournament is that big...somebody has to let the air out of the tires on their truck so that they can't come :-). There were 80 teams in the Hodag in the Rhinelander area.

I hope the rest of you put down the number of teams too and the other events besides the seven already listed. With the Frank Schneider event more the size of the "Natiional's," there could have been close to two thousand musky anglers all fishing in tournaments this past weekend in the Midwest states of Wisconsin and Minnesota alone......Incredible! Two of us from Muskies Matter fished the Hodag this weekend. lost one and had 5 others miss the lure on the first day. and one follow. Then we had another one miss twice on day two. How does that all happen? Do these fish get to eat or do they just swat and miss bait fish? L.O.L. It was lots of fun. We are holding The Redstone Rumble In Oct. 8th and 9th need 50 teams. and we have lots of prizes to give away. This is our first year doing it and we need a good turn out for a good cause. We picked a good weekend, so come on down and enjoy it. Keep the tournaments going. They are good for the economy, and they do good deeds for worthy causes.

Fished the Squirrel Lake - Musky Shores Bar Tournament. This is a low cost, fund raiser for the lake association to build/place cribs and future musky stocking. Years past there was an average of over 200 contestants and this year we had about 170. Again, this is a "fun" event where the biggest fish wins and not total inches if multiple fish are caught. You can have as many people in your boat as you would like. It's a fun family event or with me, a time to calender a yearly event to fish with a group of ol' friends.

Fished the KWM on Pelican Lake, 2 hits, 1 taker then spit the hook, enjoyed 2-3 foot seas, cold, rainy, 125 boats battled for position all day. Otherwise, enjoyed the tourney and the new friends we met on an old friend called Pelican Lake 48 1/2" took it.

muskiesmatter, your post made me smile. My son and I fished the Hodag, our first tournament and had a similar experience. We had at least six fish splash at top waters, two more got off after a second or two. We did manage to boat four northerns, a bass and one undersized muskie of 32". The last fish I saw was a mid 30s or so musky that came at my weagle from the side and hit the leader, just ahead of the bait. That was at 11:45 on Sunday, so they were consistent, for us anyway. But it was fun seeing the fish. One smaller musky took a whack at both our lures, one after the other, in about the same spot, coming partly out of the water both times and missing by a few inches each time. But we were fishing the Moen chain and they had the excuse that the water is so dark this year, I don't think they can see.
