| What's eveyone favorite Shimano TDR length and power for running Planer Boards and running straight off the side? I'm looking at picking up a few of these to add to my collection. Thanks, Chad | |||

Posts: 432 Location: Eagan, MN | I'm just getting into trolling this year. PIcked up a couple of 8' Heavy TDR's. So far they've been able to handle lures in size up to the krisco/krave and musky bling spinnerbaits. Biggest fish so far is a 44". I think they work great, but like I said, I'm a trolling rookie.

| Do they make them with a bigger power then Heavy? or is Heavy the biggest rod they have? | |||

| also how do the heavy's pull planer's, bigger buchtails - double tens, believers, grandma's, jakes, etc? | |||

Posts: 39 | I pull 10" belivers etc. and planerboards with the 8'MH and the 8'H. I think the MH is a better allround trolling rod, not to stiff.

| Is the TDR MH that much more foregiving than the H, say for example you snagged or hooked up with the bottom. I'm also looking at TDR, but alot of big baits so I was wondering if the H might be the way to go over the MH. | |||

I haven't used planers, but lures in the class of what you mention work fine. I've pulled 10" believers and jakes... pretty much the same size as the kriscos and kraves. Musky bling spinnerbaits are double 10's and they put a pretty good bend in the rod but work fine.

Posts: 906 Location: Canada | The St.Croix Premier trolling rod comes in a Heavy. I am using the Okuma EVX Musky series 8' trolling rod and it is a Heavy, I like it so much I am picking up another this Saturday. I have friends using the Shimano's (TDR's and Talora's and like them) not sure what action they have.
