The month has come in with a heckuva cold front and I'm looking at 25-35 MPH north winds as I type. Fishing has been decent up to this point, but I expect the tough weather to stir things up for the coming long weekend.

The past week with the end of August and Start of September has seen some good activit inches with fish up to 49 inch reported. Several fish in the 46-49 range caught by our guests this past week. Still a variety of structure from rock to weeds being used so you have to check a little of both.

This past Saturday afternoon/evening (Aug 28), I got out solo and it was a good example of having to "fish it all." I started with some usually reliable shoreline, island related rock structure in reasonable clear water. I spent 45-60 mins in a few areas and got totally blanked. With all the fish relating to sand and weeds throughout the season this year, I took the opportunity to fish a couple of sloppy junky weedy looking bays that most anglers I know and might fish with would have to be dragged into kicking and screaming. I managed to raise 4 fish in 3 different small weedy, sand areas (all with the northland double 8 boobie trap). Three of the fish were agressive, one of them hit my northland double 8 (black and orange of course), but didnt get hooks. Three of the fish were in the middle 40 range and I managed to get mutliple follows on the two nicer fish, even after the one had hit it came back two more times on subsequent passes. Perhaps I spent too much time chasing a few fish that would not (at least they did not) strike, save for the one fish that hit on the second follow.

The next couple of hours were spent on some more reliable sand, weeds but didn't produce another follow. Perhaps the somewhat more green water had something to do with it?

Spent the last bit of daylight into sunset in a couple of sandy beachy areas that lef to a reliable rocky point and boulder shoreline. When I hit the second beach area, I put on a topwater and then almost immediately after coming around the point, a super agressive fish attacked a musky buster humper (yup, black and organge) about 15 feet from the boat. All I could do was hold on for dear life as it did 3 dolphin jumps and took me around the boat completely before I could slide the net under the healthy 46 inch male with darkness setting in.

Are there going to be changes in patterns during the days now? I haven't been at this very long, but that would seem to make it a little more complicated again!

Should have a good report from our big group of 10 anglers that fished the last week when they depart later today. Come back and check it out.

Had a group of 10 anglers casting hard this week out of 5 boats. They fished a couple of hours on Friday night through Thursday might and ended up with 68 fish total for the trip. The biggest landed were 48.5 and 48 inchers on the last day. Several fish over 50 inches hooked and lost, including one right at the net.

Mostly fishing rock structure, but some rock weed combos and weeds as well. Homemade double 10s where the big ticket of the week. Including the two big fish landed.

Wind is still kicking here towards 30 MPH Friday night, but is supposed to clam somewhat over night. One report from today has predictably slow with just a few follows and nothing landed in one boat that was braving the rollers out there.

Hope to get out myself the next couple of afternoons, but expect to work real hard for them.

Major cold front in place. Air temps were down in the 40s last night. It feels like trolling time.

Water temps were 68-69 Thursday and 66ish on Friday after the cold night and wind kicked up from the north. We have sun today, but air temp forecased high is only low 60s at best. Wind NW 10ish the next two days before a shift to the east Sunday night.

Labour Day Weekend activity was predictably a bit tough after severe a severe cold front and high winds. Still, a guided party of 2 landed some nice fish, including a 50.25" and 48" on consecutive days. Both fish very healthy as has been the trend again this year.

Small rock points, sand with other structural elements close by and some green weeds held fish. Big bucktails again produced the best action.

More cold, below normal temps in the forecast.

Had the first front of the season overnight. Saw a bit left on the grass this morning at 7am and some on the shingles of the roof as well.

Water temps ranged from 64-71 on Sunday afternoon. The bloom has been moving around with the wind, but does settle at the surface and become a bit of a pain in the butt when the wind lays down for awhile.

Great fishing opportunities this month with less people fishing after the unofficial end of summer.

Relatively tough week with the cold snap and high winds that blew through again this week. Wind has been a huge issue in general for the last month or so.

Fishing action was slower again with the tough conditions, but several fish were caught this week by some hard fishing guests did refused to let the wind slow them down too much.

Trolling points with cranks picked up a few fish early in the week when the wind was very strong. Casting bucktails, topwater and gliders brought some action later in the week.

Rocks (points, shoreline boulder, shelves) were the most prominent structure, with a few fish coming from sand/weeds on days when the sun was up and wind clamed slightly.

With water temps at 57-58 and below normal highs forecasted the next couple of weeks, the trolling bite might kick in a bit earlier this year than "normal."

I plan to be out tomorrow morning for a few hours and may try a little tolling if I don't see any fish the first hour or two casting.

Fall primtime time is coming!! I'll be sharpening hooks on my jakes real soon.

The week started off tough with more weather issues. Winds kept people from doing much fishing in general. We had only a couple of boats casting this week, as the rest of the resort was full of walleye/crappie anglers. Action was very slo until the weather broke a bit on Wednesday, the day preceeding full moon. Several fish followed for the lone boat casting, but nothing hit the net. Thursday brought more winds and rain to ruin the full moon period for anyone but the most hardcore and fearless anglers. We had several walleye anglers that didnt both to go out fishing on Thursday afternoon upon a late afternoon arrival.

I managed to get out saturday afternoon (9/25) to check things out. Decided to go ahead and troll a bit to see what was happening....saw water temps in the 53-58 range as the sun was out and warming throughout the day.

Managed to pick up one nice fish (mid 40's) on a grandma. Have a hard strike on krave that left some nice teeeth marks in the brand new lure and land a couple of small pike. Baitfish weren't present shallow for the most part, but marked some activity a bit deeper (likely perch/walleyes) and had both bigger fish hit near thos areas.

Probably a little early to troll, but it was good to get out and see a friend get their second muskie ever and personal best fish.

If I was casting, I would be hitting points and rubble shorelines, as long as some rcok walls near current areas or that have wind blowing in towards them. That seemed to be where the food was hanging out yesterday.

Water still pretty green on top in a lot of places, but it's clearing up nicely.

Had a friend/customer out 2 of the last 3 days and reported it tough tough tough out there. Water is clearing up some, but saw one peanut in two days. Did some trolling without any success.

Water temps 54-56 and holding with the reasonably warm daytime temps.

Good news is that it can only get better in the days and weeks to come. I hope I can fish til Nov 18 here again!!!
