Last night Brian, my son, and I went out on Pelican Lake, WI, for a couple hours, throwing twitch and surface baits. I fished the entire evening with an Undertaker, which actually is a jerk bait/glider, but because it is so versatile, was walking it across the top. Caught an upper 30's, saw two in the 48" range, and called it a day!

Steve, was up in Phelps for a couple days before the weather turned sour. Small fish on Saturday then Sunday evening we saw 5 fish in one 300 yard stretch. 4 were 40"`s and one was mid 40`s....then my buddy scored his first legal. A 36"+ on a bucktail that I made. He`ll never be the same. We tried surface baits and some wood and Jakes but only moved fish on hair.
Hope this is the beginning of a good thing. Beav

JODY!!! YOU MUST identify yourself as the Muskie Goddess, a name duly given by Mr. Van Lieshout, or I will not answer the post.....

I also fished Pelican this past weekend. Well, actually just Saturday. Lost one on my second cast (around 40"), and saw just two more the rest of the morning. I waited til 8:00 to get back out, and got a 19" Smallmouth at 9:15, and a mid 30" musky at 9:50. Both on a 6" Jake.

Did you fish the stones, or weeds, or both? I saw the big fish in Treacherous bay, and caught the fish there, too. Went to Antigo Island at dark, saw one there.

I fished both the rocks and the weeds. Where I lost the fish in the morning was on the weedine that runs from Treacherous Bay towards Crescent Island. The one I did get in the boat was from the rocks.
I wish I could get out there more this year. But, unfortunately it is that time where everyone I know is deciding to tie the knot. And not the knot I would rather be tying on my leader. Last year was my best out there, with over 20 legals in the boat. Not too bad for just 12 weekends up there. For now I am stuck on the dead sea of Pewaukee.

Never fished pelican but I put my undertakers back in my box. I left them for dead as for two months of trying I could not make one work. For giggles I put one back in my box and took it out. I am not sure what I changed but it worked like a charm. It is also smaller which makes it somewhat different. Now I love the bait.

I found that a six or six and a half foot rod really let's me control the bait well. I tried a seven, and had trouble keeping the bait where I wanted it. It also didn't change up like I want, I like the bait to hang when I stop, and pop up or down before I slow it down.

Steve, I am glad to see that your are keeping the Muskie Goddess under control and not letting her run all over this website without identifying herself!
As far as her request, I would highly recommend that she be required to sunbath while she is fishing! No sunbathing-no fishing!

Just found the new message board. Looks great.
We were also out on Pelican on the 6/30, it might have been you right behind us on Antigo Island. We didn't see any there but moved over to the big bar at dusk and landed a 46 just after dark on a depth raider. We don't usually fish with depth raiders but always read about them after dark so we thought we'd give 'em a try. Never hurts to try different things. Sat. morning we caught a couple small skis but nothing legal. Sat. night the depth raiders showed a couple mid 30's but no takers. Hope to get back soon.

Good luck guys
