This one I missed twiced before. Many hours in the boat, so what happens, we go to the river and toss a few from shore before April had to go to work. April's my neice and primary fishing buddy. She'll fish any time, any weather. This is her first muskie, a nice 41"er. She's got her 10,000 casts in easy. She's also pulled in a lot of big walleyes this year and most guys wouldn't be able to keep up with her during the gun deer season. [:praise:]

Congrats! Think I'll leave me boat at home next time...funny how when you are on the bank, you cast to the deep...when in a boat, you cast to the bank...I think you guys are onto something![:sun:]

Nice fish! (or would that be a "Niece Fish") ;)

A 41"er from shore is a fun one, no doubt about it. Your niece (as well as yourself) will carry that memory forever!

The main reason I went at that time is that after the storm passed thru the night before, it had just finished raining 1 1/2hrs earlier and the clouds were just starting to break up. There's a small weed bed just 20ft from shore and minnows were all over the place and we even saw a couple perch feeding and I figure there were probally walleyes in there too. We could reach out to about 6ft of water on a cast.
April was casting an inline bucktail and she saw the fish come from the side, flare it's gills and inhall the spinner. She said she waited till she could feel the fish before setting the hook. Got that info here on MF.
I've thought about taking the boat inside the weedbeds and casting from deep to shallow before, too. Now if I can just break old habits and actually try it. It should be something that could sometimes work.

Congrats to Terry and April. A very nice fish. The memory of the first will last forever. You can officially call that photo, "the Beauty and the Beast"...[;)]

Thanks for all the tips and yehs. My neice got me up at 4am this morning to go to a nearby inland lake. I thinks she's hooked! This lake dosen't have a lot of big fish, but we boated 3 between 30 and 36 and had one a little bigger on besides the 4 other hookups we had that got off. We saw 7 more. My youngest son graced us with his presence today and got his first muskie, the 36" fish.
Talk to you when you get back Steve. good luck.
