I will have indoor storage available to competitors that would like a safe place to park their rig at night and recharge batteries. All equipment can be left onboard, and peace of mind for a good nights rest. PM me for info.

Posts: 1220 | Practiced last weekend with a couple of guys from another team and although we didn't exactly find the fish, we found a truly great burger at the "Landing" (right at the bridge that divides the Chip) where they put whatever you want on the darn thing for the same price. I asked for bacon and they put on about six slices, along with the rest of the stuff I asked for, I could hardly hold it. That and the fries were around ten bucks but it was worth it. While you are waiting, you can also read the signed affidavits regarding Louis Spray's fish(with Spray's actual signature and post office scale receipt). The display is so professional you can ALMOST believe it! Certainly worth a stop! Marty Forman

Posts: 1220 | You know, that's one beautiful building, but I'm not sure I'd want to park next to that Lund. They say the rivets can explode off those things during the night and damage the gel-coat on the really nice glass boats!! :-)

The Lund will be out by then! The motels in the area don't offer good places to plug in. Store it here and you will have no worries whether things could get tampered with while you sleep. Leave all of your gear and charge your batteries. I will make hours available to accomodate and maybe even have a cup of coffee for you.

Posts: 35 | Nice, secure & security monitored. For those staying @ hotels in Hayward, there has been a rash of break-ins and thefts lately around town and surrounding areas. Sure would be nice to have the rig in a secure location! I know Todd ... he'll accomodate the latest and earliest of drop-off / pick-up requests!

Posts: 1220 | Hey guys, I am all for anybody's version of capitalism and trying to make an honest buck renting out a building or whatever, but I sort of think you are painting a whole area with a bit of a dirty paintbrush by using scare tactics in this way. Hayward folks, like all the rest of the Northwoods have had some tough years, and the idea that theirs is a particularly unsafe area to vacation will only heap harm on the already injured. Every one of those hotels, restaurants, bait shops, resorts, whatever need all the support they can get. Crime is everywhere, and it's exacerbated where jobs are scarce, but I think you do more for your own town and neighbors to just put the pictures up the way you did. It's a beautiful building, you are clearly angler friendly, it sounds totally cool to park there and that's all that needs to be said.

Posts: 35 | I've got to disagree with you junkman! I was just stating some recent facts, and if you look at our newspaper "Sawyer County Record", you'll see that there has indeed been a rash of these incidents. Of course crime is everywhere, and I believe most of us know how nice of a town Hayward is overall. I (personally) think it sure would be nice to not have to go through the boat and take the electronics as well as all fishing gear in to the room at the end of a day. I believe there was a post on here or MH asking whether people left or took their gear from the boat while over-nighting. Perhaps I could have worded it better, but it is certainly not a "Scare tactic" ... more of a heads-up!
