Posts: 167 Location: Ontario | Hi! I have someone taking myself and a buddy out on Lake St. Clair for a weekend of fishing and is not charging us anything but half the gas in his boat. 3 Days to a lake I have never fished before and he has been fishing it for 40 years. Needless to say, I am very excited about it and wanted to get him something to say thanks. I was thinking about getting him a real nice lure(s) and was wondering your thoughts on the body of water. He is located on the Canadian side near the town of Belle river and trolls about 90% of the time. Any lure suggestions, colors, etc. would be appreciated. I would say price is no object, but I dont want to go crazy here! Thanks in advance, Matt

Posts: 717 Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Get him some of Jeff's Crazy Moon bucktails! I've heard of a lot of guys being successful trolling those with some weight. That, or a bumpboard for when he lands those monsters!! *wink*

More than one 50 on them last season by the trolling crowd.

Posts: 458 | This is probably a good idea because the guy you are going out with may not have double tens good for trolling. I have some of his baits and they are great quality.

Posts: 225 Location: Nordeast Minneapolis | Thought I'd chime in with a slightly different angle... if he's been fishing musky for 40 years, he may very well have already decided what works. My old man's been chasing 'em for around 50+ years, and he's pretty well set on what he likes. There are a few guys out there making wall art lure replicas, specifically 'classic lure' replicas that he may appreciate. If you want to consider that route, PM me, and I'll try to put you in touch with one of the best. Not saying you should go that route! Personally I'm always happy with more/new lures. But just thought I'd throw out an alternative.
