Posts: 36 Location: Terril, IA | Clear Lake muskie tournament is only 10 days away. It is Sunday June 13th from 7 am to 4 pm. Teams must pre-register ASAP by going to the Upper Great Plains Muskies Inc. website at www.muskieclub.com and download the tournament rules and registration forms. Get your entry form in the mail to me ASAP. If you don’t pre register in time you can sign up the morning of the tournament. Check in is between 5:30 and 6:30 Sunday Morning at McIntosh State Park boat ramp. Come and join us for hopefully an exciting day of muskie fishing. This is the 2nd leg of the Iowa Muskie Team Trail and all participants are welcome. You do not have to be a club member or have to fish the entire team trail to participant. So come and join us on one of Iowa’s best muskie lakes. If you have any questions please call me at 712-363-0755. Posts: 454 | I can't give you any tips on Clear Lake in IA, but I do want to recommend that you prepare yourself with the appropriate gear to target this species, specifically proper release tools. Muskie fisherman take extreme care of the the resource and want to ensure that new anglers protect the species as well. Make sure to get a proper hook cutters, large net, needle nose pliers, etc..... If you boat a muskie, make sure you leave the fish in the net submerged in the water while removing the hooks. If the fish is hooked bad, please just use a hook cutters to free the hooks. You can replace the trebles on your lure in a matter of minutes after a successful release. Best of luck out there if you go. Please take care of the resource. | ||
