Sam- Used the launch on Big Stone, I think the one that is for the camp, a little rough, my spare tire was rubbing the concrete when I launch, and it is really steep with the water down. I used the one a couple hundred of feet down next to the bar that is all concrete block and that was much better. I bumped bottom a few times when taking off in spots that I never have before, but with the water down you have to pay attention a little more. If you go from Big Stone to Deer stay to the west side under the bridge, I bumped the motor twice and the bow once being in the center or east side. A lot different looking than years past, but a lot of great looking weedbeds and spots too.

Anything good to report on Pewaukee?

Got out on fri and my partner caught a 27" I saw 2 and lost a low 30's. Sunday night went out and lost a 36" or so, but nailed a PB pike. Awesome time to be out on the water

Shane...........Great to hear you and the family did well on Wingra Friday night! When I was leaving the lake (skunked) and saw you guys go out I was hoping you would get a few. Very healthy looking 43". Big thrill for your son and daughter.

I was out with fishing partner Geoff Crandall Saturday in his wooden cosine wherry row troller. He brought in a nice 41" and one undersized.

Fished LVD for about a hour on Saturday with my son. We watched one low 40" fish laying under the boat. That got him pretty excited for the season. Then he heard from Gandpa that the gills were biting and he was done muskie fishing for the weekend. We did catch a ton of gills along with a few large mouth in the mix that we both had a great time with.
Sunday tried to head out with my brother in-law to get some time in but got blown off by storms and completly soaked Sunday evening. Lots of season left to get out and hopefully get some fish.

We fished 3-Lakes all weekend. We moved 10 fish, all on weed edges close to deep water. Sunday night as the storm was moving in my daughter caught her first, 35.5". That made it a great weekend even after finding 2 rocks with my motor that I didn't know were there. I was just idling along, so I only put 1 ding in the prop straight out at the landing on Townline. The other one was on 4 Mile. I was idling along and it went from 10' to bang and back to 10' before I could react.

Greg,

Glad to see that your daughter got her first legal! I was out on the chain with my God daughter all weekend with no luck.

One quick question: Where were you on Four Mile when you hit? I'm going over the entire lake in my head right now and I'm drawing a blank for a spot going from 10' to *smash* back to 10'. Not the rock humps (three of them) that cross the lake before it opens up.. the water levels are not that low!

Could it have been a log?

On Sun my brother & I were going to try a new small lake that supposedly has big bass in it but when we got to the landing, the water level was too low. Went over to a muskie lake and had 1 follow for the few hours that we were out. A couple of kids had jumped in front of us on a weed bed that we were fishing and one of the kids boats a 36" in like 5 minutes. After he released the fish I could see that he was holding his hand. When we got closer, I asked if that fish had cut him. He replied, "yeah". Then I asked if he needed any gauze and he replied, "YEAH!". He showed me his cut and it was the worst one that I have ever seen. The fish cut him in the webbing between the thumb and pointer finger about 3" long, 1" wide and at least 1/2" deep, hopefully not to the bone. So I dug out my gauze pads and first aid kit and wrapped him up. I then told him that he needed to get it stitched up and cleaned out so it doesn't get infected. The kid replies, " yeah I probably should but I kinda want to keep fishing." Its 8:30am. I highly recommended that he get his gouge taken care of and were the closest hospital was. He said, "thanks", a couple of times and we parted. They took off towards the landing. A fairly interesting day.
