I don't think you stand up when you drive anymore..... I've never put it on when driving our Boston Whaler center console. Neither of the Sheriff deputies I rode with all last summer ever wore it. FSF nailed it. How some people venture outside these days is a mystery. Then lets hope that if you ever have an accident that your boat only crashes into the shoreline and nobody gets hurt.

Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | FSF nailed it. How some people venture outside these days is a mystery. People can ridicule wearing it all they want, but I think this argument of "how do we venture outside" or "something is going to kill you someday" is totally off base. It's not a matter of "fear" of dying or "fear" of driving the boat or living life. It's not about fear of falling out or dying...that's why I wear my PFD while on the big motor. It's wanting to avoid falling out and floating in the water as you watch your beloved boat fly across the lake over the horizon, hit another boat or be like this guy and run it aground. http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=534647&postid=5301813#530181... Granted, this was because he was being an idiot in other ways, but I'd rather just put the #*^@ lanyard on than have to have my boat craned onto the trailer and towed directly to the shop for extensive repairs and miss the rest of the season. Plus, should I fall out, even if it doesn't hit someone else or run aground I'd like to at least have it somewhat close and be able to attempt to get back in it! If you want to try to swim after your boat and catch it and hop back in while it's under power, all the while laughing at us who wear them because you think we're afraid of something, be my guest. Posts: 909 | I should have added that I'm standing up running my jet boat at 30 MPH in 3 or 4 inches of water! It gets alittle wild at times! Brian Edited by muskie24/7 5/27/2010 10:48 PM
