Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | i had the misfortune of pulling a couple kids off of pwc's after a collision back in the day. those things with or without an influence have got to be the single most dangerous recreational vehicle available. i saw a recent commercial where there are brakes being developed and that's encouraging, but still just scratch my head and thank God my kids don't have an interest to ride one. everybody keep your heads on a swivel this coming weekend when the boat traffic is at a peak!!

Posts: 81 | I hate to hear this as I was on Lake Marie Saturday and Sunday fishing the Ironman. Sunday was like a zoo on the lakes. Fishing was good until about 10am and the pleasure crafts came out. There must have been 120 boat on little old Pitite along with countless jet skis. We moved to Marie around 2 pm and just as many boats there. I can not beleive the way they run these big boat on the chain and I'm surprised that there isn't more accidents as a lot of these folks are just plain "out of there mind". As much as I dislike jet skis buzzing me while I'm fishing, I don't want to see anyone hurt but these jet skies don't stand a chance the way the many, many, many big boats run on the lakes. Common sense will go a long way att staying safe. I for one won't be back on those lakes until October. For those that will be on those lakes, BE SAFE and stay alert.

Posts: 551 Location: Columbus, Georgia | I was fishing down here in TN last week. On plane and cruising a main channel at around 40MPH. A jet skier took off from shore and looked as if he was coming right at me and an almost sure collision. My fishing partner pointed out to me that the jet skier wanted to have fun running back-and-forth through my wake. I'll tell you, I think that's a pretty dangerous way to have fun. Sacred the heck out of me. Sympathies to the victim's family. Edited by cjrich 5/25/2010 6:05 AM
