So I tried the Bucher knot. After running the tag end (which is a loop itself) throught the initial loop you created and over the swivel or leader as shown, do you pull that up ahead of the twists on the line, or keep it behind the twists (between twists and swivel)? Also, what is the trick to keeping the twists or wraps from tightening up first and preventing the tag loop end from cinching up? Or is it supposed to be that way?

Posts: 221 | Hmmm, guess I've been using a fishin fool for my mono... Thought that was a clinch. I will say I stopped using the fishin fool for braids about 5 years ago... I found I was having failures. I think it slips back and forth on itself from the waxiness of the braid.

Posts: 994 Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan! | You have to pull a little at a time and then stretch it back out. Takes about three times of doing this to get it to clinch down correctly. Can be a pain if you are in a hurry, but sure makes a nice heavy duty fat knot that does not fail.

I use only the Bucher Power Knot. It takes some practice cinching it down tight but I have never had one fail. I have used it with 50 lb Tuff line in the the past and now with the 100 lb lines. Some of the lines are trickier to snug down. The knot only gets tighter as you use it. Steve

Posts: 540 | sounds like a hassle having to keep recinching your knots down 2,3,4 times before it's ready, just tie a palomar and be done with it!

Location: Northern Illinois | So I just googled this Fish n Fool knot and watched the guys video. Can someone decribe to me the difference bewteen the Uni- Knot and the Fish n Fool knot? I have been tying a 6 wrap uni with two turns through the hook eye for about 15 years and they look identical unless I missed something. ??? Edited by Chibigboy 5/18/2010 8:12 PM

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | ChiBig, you did miss something. It was stated in an earlier post that they are the same, it was around as what I've known as the super-uni knot (second time thru the eye) long before the fishin fool "invented" it. Good knot though.
