| Bummer!! After my company had me install this high speed cable, it won't work. Must be due to a firewall or something?? Zach, any ideas?? | |||
| |||
| BTTT, Zach any ideas? | |||
| |||
| Greg, See your boss. I recieved a memo last week that was issued nationwide that stated: Your Employees spend way more time/energy thinking about muskies than their jobs............They then provided a solution that enables them to block all muskie chats used through a connection. It works somewhat like the porn filters for children. Just wanted to give you a heads up. P.S. I smell conspiracy, rumor has it that this was issued through the CIA | |||
| |||
| Greg, a firewall is a good suspect. Do you know if they installed one on your computer along with the cable modem? If so, look at the security settings. You may need to "relax" them a bit. Also, if they installed a new browser or updated the security settings for the browser then that could be a source as well. Good luck, Jono | |||

| When they had me download all this crap, part of it was "Secure Client", which is now an icon on my desktop. Might be the root of my problem. TomV, haven't been able to get into the naughty sites for many moons (not that I,um.....,tried to,um.... nevermind), but at least I could still chat. | |||
| |||
| The chat runs on port 8080, which should not be blocked. Is this a home connection? The secure client they had you install may be a personal firewall, in which case you need to figure out how to open up port 8080 on the firewall. Let me know what you find out. Zach | |||
| |||
| home connection, yes. I use a broadband/vpn hookup. Does that make sense? It is from Charter Communications, the same cable that runs the Television. How do I find a port 8080 on the firewall? Feel free to call Zach, 715-736-0740, thx much. | |||

| when I try to chat it says: Error connecting to host version 1.1.4 greek to me[:bigsmile:] | |||
| |||
| Did the chat work before you switched ISP's? Are you using the same computer and installation of Internet Explorer? If you did not have java runtime installed or the wrong version you would not even get the login box. It sure does sound like that port is blocked. Zach | |||
| |||
| Zach and Jason, I would like to participate in the chats and auction, however, I am also getting the error message that reads "Error Connecting to Host. Java version:1.1.4". Could this be a result of my companies firewalls installed on my computer. Any help in fixing this is appreciated. Thanks Dave K. | |||
| |||
| Greg, you might try calling the cable co. + asking them what you can do...they should have a trouble shooting staff that can help, I know Adelphia does + they have helped me in the past! | |||
| |||
| Dave, do you get this message before or after to attempt to log in with a username? Zach | |||
| |||
| Greg, Um, that would be Geek, to you.[:bigsmile:] See you Wednesday. Find a Triton yet? Tight Lines, Shep[:sun:] | |||

| Go to the help icon in your web browser and see what version your using. Like: Internet Explorer 5.0 etc. For the chat program you are using here you need at least Netscape Communicator 4.08+, Internet Explorer 4+ Perhaps people having problems are using an older web browsers and need to upgrade. If you have IE and would like to update your browser go here: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp Zach, if this is the problem, may I suggest a test page prior to them entering the java chat program. If they don't have the right credentials tell them they need to upgrade their software. I hope this helps. | |||
| |||
| Zach, I get this error message after attempting to login with a user name. I have followed the update instructions on the chat page but still get the same message. Any thoughts? Thanks Dave K | |||
| |||
| BTTT Zach, Do you have any ideas on how to fix the error message when I try and connect to the chat room? Dave K | |||
| |||
| Greg I don't think there is anything wrong with your firewall. Usally they leave the ports that are well known open and in this case I can't get mine to work either. I am having same problem is esox maniac just get a grey area. | |||
| |||
| What web browser are you using? Go to the help and see what version it is. | |||
| |||
| Now we're cooking with gas!! Works great now, just no-one in there to chat with.[:bigsmile:] | |||
