Bought a new boat, and am looking to pick up another prop. What did you guys who owned this set up find gave you the best performance?

Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan! | I know a guy that is running an 2004 so should be the same hull pattern. I'll ask him what he ended up with and let you know. He's one of those guys that will try out a dozen or so props just to get that little extra. |

19 rev 4 4 blade Try to get your rpm close to the max rec. in the manual .with a light load. You should see high 50s

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | A 19 tempest will WAY over rev. You should be looking at a 21 for the summer and a 23 in the fall. A 21 Rev 4 has been reported to be a very good prop for that setup. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | Agreed. A 21 or 23 would be ideal. Three vs four blade would be up to you and the water you run. I run a 23M on mine, thinking of picking up a four blade. But I'm a Yamaha guy, so not a direct comparison. |

Location: NEW LENOX IL | Only way to know for shure is try as many as you can . A couple factors to keep in mind are ,how high is your motor on your transom. How you use your boat .Are you mostly alone or do you have 2 buddies with you most of the time.
My 620 likes a 19 rev 4 best ,that is my best overall wheel. I have a 21 rev 4 that gets a few more on top end but lags a bit out of the hole. I also have a 23 tempest that has been worked so it will get me near my target rpm but still get a few extra mph .
My hull (2007) runs a little dryer than the older 620s (pre2006) it has a pad almost like a bass boat and i'm running a 250 verado as opposed to a 225 opti like the op.
I know ranger sent out a lot of boats that were IMO way over propped .I set my buddies 619 up with a 21 rev 4 that runs well but according to his tach he should be running a 19 . He wants the extra 2 mph the 21 gives him but he is still running only 5100 with a light load. My 19 was dead on but 2 mph slower .
Dont forget over propping a motor is verrry bad for its health .

Location: NEW LENOX IL | Should be in the book or on a tag on your motor. I'm thinking 5500or 5650. Try to get close (within100rpm) of the max rpm with 1/2 fuel and a light load. Watch speed and tach as you trim up . your speed will stop rising and your bow will drop or settle a bit.Now trim down a touch until your prop bites and check your rpm . If its too low you need to reduce pitch .
also its a good idea to run merc quickleen to keep carbon down

Location: NEW LENOX IL | Yes wot and you will trim up the motor and watch your speed . When your speed stops rising , trim down slightly and note your rpm. You want your rpm to be in the upper range of the mfg limits. (within 100-200 rpm) This is done with a light load in the boat. After you load up the boat with gear buddies ect you will drop a few hundred rpm but still be within mfg specs |

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | The motor will let you know when it hits the limit. The alarm buzzer will start honking at you until you get'em back down again. Not that I've ever flirted with the buzzer

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | If you have lots of over revs on the 'puter (happens running rough water if you are not careful, and every time you hit the limiter), when you want it covered under warranty you might have a problem. I remember one Verado that had over 2 thousand over revs...the Tech rep wasn't impressed.  |
