Location: Chicago | At the rate musky fishermen are using saltwater grade gear and the ever increasing demand for durability. Shimano must surely be aware of our applications for a lot of their products namely the Trinidad. Maybe someone knows or has heard talk, but do you think that they would consider developing a reel with the muscle of the Trinidad and the thumbar, levelwind of the 400TE. Maybe get some of the size and weight down at the same time. It just seems like a hybrid of these two reels would be perfect. |

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | In a chat with friend who is an offshore captain sponsored by Shimano, he stated that musky needs are so small in the realm of things, the concerns there within, will never likely be addressed. He also said, maybe with the popularity of the Saltist LW they may build a high speed reel like the Trinidad with a levelwind.
It sucks, because in our eye's the musky market is huge. But in actuality, we are just a minor blip on the screen. |

| A Shimano engineer spent a day on the water with a couple of prominent musky fishermen who were trying to sell the company on just such an idea for the Trinidad line of reels. The engineer left enthused, but was shot down by 'corporate', probably due to the tooling costs vs. the perceived contribution of such a line. While it seems like a no-brainer from our angler perspective, it's difficult for us to understand the internal economics for the company on such a change.
