| What should I look for when buying a rod for the really heavy lures, esp huge rubber baits like the pounder.
Legnth - I would guess no less than 8 feet for bait control and casting distance?
Action- needs to be stiff but able to load when casting?
what else am I missing?
How long is the cork on your favorite heavy lure rod? Longer cork for longer casts better figure 8's?
anything else?
really looking for input from guys who throw these heavy lures often.

Location: MN | The St croix legend tourny 8'6"xh is what I use for pounders - 2pounders and it works great. I had thorne bros add 4" to the handle to make the rear handle 18" the extra length gives me better control on fig 8's and makes it easy to cast huge baits. |

| Tooth Tamer Rods would be my vote. The 8' XXXH will handle baits from 8-48 oz. This rod really with stands the abuse of using heavy baits check out there website at http://www.toothtamerrods.com

14" rear handle the rod loads great and hucks a pounder a mile. I would say to have the 4" added though it makes a great rod even better. |

| 9'6"PREDATOR XXH is awesome for the big stuff. I picked mine up at the MN Musky show along with a 9'3"PREDATOR MH for the smaller stuff. The nice thing with having Thorne Bros. make the rod is you get what you want in handle length and action.
It's the olny way to go! |

Location: Bonduel WI | St Croix Big Dawg or Muskie Innovations couldn't tell you the length's but the St Croix Legend Tournament is available in a split grip model. I've used on split grip and loved it i would never go back to a full grip, especially on a musky rod. |
